“Very refined, elegant, and juicy, with a sophisticated fruitiness reminiscent of Ente plums. Silky and playful, the palate already plays off the oak to reveal very delicate fruit and velvety tannins. A balanced, mouth-watering wine, made for pleasure and to age well. ” (Le Figaro 2022) - A delicious red Bordeaux from Pierre Lurton, director of the Yquem and Cheval Blanc estates!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Pierre Lurton, who is also director of Château Cheval Blanc and president of Château d’Yquem, purchased Château Marjosse more than twenty years ago, drawn by the old vines and the quality of the terroir: a rarity in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, the asterian limestone—the same that has made Saint-Émilion famous—lies just below the surface here. The quality and consistency of this wine, both white and red, are astonishing. The wines display remarkable balance and purity. They feature vibrant fruit, a silky and harmonious texture, and are highly drinkable while also showing excellent aging potential.
Decanter
Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
Chewy, crisp, and full-bodied, this wine boasts a rich, rounded style with a lively palate and concentrated flavors—blackcurrant, red cherry, and pomegranate. Hints of salinity emerge on the finish; this is a wine with a lot to offer. It’s a bold wine that leaves no one indifferent and carries more weight on the mid-palate than others, which bodes well for its future aging. Well-structured and somewhat muscular, yet full of energy. I love this wine. 2024–2028

About the wine:
A beautiful deep, vibrant color. A fruity nose that charms with its smoothness. Soft on the palate at first, melting on the mid-palate, this exceptionally well-crafted wine caresses the palate, leaving a sensation of freshness, velvety texture, and rich flavors. A lovely aroma lingers on the finish. A superb Outsider. Yield: 35 hl/ha. Harvested from September 28 to October 12.

In a cooler vintage, Marjosse really hit the mark. A smooth wine that’s very pleasant to drink.

Far from reaching the level of excellence of its 2018, 2019, and 2020 vintages, the 2021 Marjosse never ceases to surprise with a clean profile and a relatively low alcohol content, which I wasn’t used to. The palate stands out for its richness of fruity and woody flavors, its full-bodied and dynamic texture, as well as the fine grain of its refined tannins. These tannins contribute to the smooth finish, marked by a chalky freshness. A lovely everyday Bordeaux to pair with filet mignon and early chanterelle mushrooms with parsley. Score = 3.9.
