“Marjosse’s bouquet is bursting with fruity notes! These are complemented by aromas of licorice, woody nuances, and even a touch of freshness. The juicy, mouthwatering character on the palate only reinforces the bouquet’s inviting qualities. A rich, savory, mouthwatering wine, ready to be enjoyed while also demonstrating its potential for cellaring. In short, it’s a Bordeaux!” (Yves Beck 2025) – Pierre Lurton, director of Châteaux d’Yquem and Cheval Blanc, is the owner of this Bordeaux gem that stands out in its category for both reds and whites!

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91-92/100
Rated 3*Stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Charming, with delicious, lingering tannins. A beautifully crafted red wine from this vintage for the estate.
About the estate:
Pierre Lurton, who is also director of Château Cheval Blanc and president of Château d’Yquem, purchased Château Marjosse more than twenty years ago, drawn by the old vines and the quality of the terroir: a rarity in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, the asterian limestone—the same that has made Saint-Émilion famous—lies just below the surface here. The quality and consistency of this wine, in both white and red, are astonishing. The wines display remarkable balance and purity. They feature vibrant fruit, a silky and harmonious texture, and are highly drinkable while also showing excellent aging potential.

About the wine:
Marjosse 2022, from Pierre Lurton’s estate in Entre-Deux-Mers, offers a briny bouquet with notes of blackcurrant and wild hedgerows. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a fresh attack, supple tannins, and a hint of black pepper and graphite on the finish. Is this Bordeaux’s best bargain? Most likely. It’s a must-buy wine. 2025–2033

Although still young, the 2022 Marjosse is already showing its full potential: volume and depth, an opulent and velvety texture, as well as perfectly ripe, chalky tannins that support a lingering finish with beautiful energy and intensely fruity, delicately toasty flavors. It’s hard to find anything better at this price. Pairs perfectly with Limousine flank steak in Bordelaise sauce and parsley-topped porcini mushrooms. Rating = 4.3.

A little young, but it will be superb in two years (see the 2020, which is perfect right now)
