Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2019 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
The Despagne family has five estates and 300 hectares of vines, planted with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties. The seriousness, inventiveness and skill of the Despagne family mean that all their wines, and especially those from their flagship estates, Tour de Mirambeau and Rauzan Despagne, could serve as models for many a Bordeaux: always flattering, but never far from Bordeaux classicism. Here, the wines are always very harmonious.

About the wine:
A very well-crafted wine with harmonious aromas of ripe fruit and mocha-tinged oak, and a full, opulent mouthfeel without heaviness, with solid tannins. Character and potential.
About the domain :
Winegrowers for over two centuries, the Despagne family, established in the heart of Entre-deux-Mers, is a key player in the Bordeaux vineyards, with 300 ha of vineyards spread over several crus - Bel Air Perponcher, Tour de Mirambeau, Rauzan Despagne, Lion Beaulieu, Mont-Pérat - managed by Jean-Louis' children children (Thibault, Gabriel and Basaline) and by Joël Elissalde, technical manager. Their wines are often featured on these pages, in all three colors.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2017 guide) 87-89/100 (Good wine)
About the wine:
Château Tour de Mirambeau's 2016 Cuvée Passion was closed and a little sullen on the nose when I tasted it at Cercle de Rive Droite. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry, a dash of acidity, cedar and a drop of black fruit-tinged soy with clear structure, especially on the finish. Good potential, even if the aromas need to gain in vivacity.
