Note: "Special Trophy" (better than Gold!) at the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon (blend category)
This reserve cuvée, composed of 52% Sauvignon, 38% Sémillon, and 10% Muscadelle, is produced in the Entre-deux-Mers region. A fresh and approachable white, highly aromatic with citrus notes and delicious hints of passion fruit. The attack is lively and crisp, both smooth and refreshing, with subtle peppery undertones. A wine that’s pure pleasure to share this summer!

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2019 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

The Despagne family owns five estates and 300 hectares of vineyards, planted with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties. The Despagnes’ dedication, creativity, and expertise ensure that all their wines—particularly those from their flagship estates, Tour de Mirambeau and Rauzan Despagne—could serve as a model for many Bordeaux wines: always appealing yet never straying far from classic Bordeaux style. Here, the wines are always very harmonious.

About the estate:

With over two centuries of winemaking tradition, the Despagne family, based in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, is a key player in the Bordeaux wine industry, managing 300 hectares spread across several vineyards—Bel Air Perponcher, Tour de Mirambeau, Rauzan Despagne, Lion Beaulieu, and Mont-Pérat—managed by the children of Jean-Louis (Thibault, Gabriel, and Basaline) and by Joël Elissalde, the technical director. Their wines are frequently featured in these pages, in all three colors.

Very pleasant, and even better than the same wine from the "Entre-Deux-Mers" appellation.

An impressive aroma of passion fruit or mango, very fresh on the palate—I'm really pleased with it.

I'm surprised that the label doesn't list any contact information for the winemaker—just an SCEA—and there's no mention of the grape variety or winemaking process. Maybe this was mentioned in your description, but I don't like buying wine without knowing its exact origin. That said, it's good value for the price.
