2*Coup de Coeur

Hachette

"Silver highlights shimmer in this remarkably balanced wine. It offers a bouquet of exotic fruits (passion fruit, mango, and kiwi) and citrus. With just the right amount of liveliness, suppleness, and richness, the balance is truly exceptional. And the aromas linger long on the finish. (Le Guide des Vins Hachette 2020)"

About the wine:

Silver highlights shimmer in this remarkably balanced wine. It offers a bouquet of exotic fruits (passion fruit, mango, and kiwi) and citrus. With just the right amount of liveliness, suppleness, and richness, the balance is truly exceptional. And the aromas linger on the finish.

About the estate:

Formerly owned by the Perponcher family, who were forced to flee to Holland following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, the estate was acquired in 1990 by the Despagne family. A vineyard situated on a clay-siliceous plateau overlooking the Dordogne River, it is a must-try in Bordeaux (in all three styles), Bordeaux Supérieur, and Entre-deux-Mers.

A lovely between-the-seas wine that emphasizes fruit (exotic fruits) and sweetness rather than acidity, as is often the case with this type of wine. Beautifully balanced and incredibly rich: a real discovery.

Tasted in November and December 2019. Same conclusion: a technical wine with no personality but no flaws either. Lacks liveliness for an Entre-deux-Mers—a favorite?
