Entre-deux-Mers
The Entre-Deux-Mers AOC covers the entire Gironde wine-growing region between the Dordogne and the Garonne rivers, hence its name. The soils are predominantly clay-limestone. In this region of fragmented vineyards, there are many winegrowers and the average farm size is small. This allows producers to pamper their vines. They often belong to cooperatives that handle the winemaking.
Sauvignon is the king of grape varieties in Entre-Deux-Mers. It often undergoes a specific winemaking process here: skin maceration. This produces wines that are highly aromatic and lively, yet not overly sharp, well-balanced, and endowed with beautiful aromatic intensity. Sauvignon is primarily blended with Sémillon, which adds roundness and body. As a supplementary grape in the blend, Muscadelle contributes very pleasant wild and musky notes.
The wines of Entre-deux-Mers are exclusively white. Their aromatic profile features notes of citrus, yellow flowers, and exotic fruits. On the palate, they are supple, lively, and refreshingly crisp.
