“Owned by Nicolas Thienpont, a renowned winemaker”
“Tropical fruits as well as white stone fruits, with a nuanced nose of pear and white flowers. Lively on the palate with orange and lemon juice and zest, offering a sweet, tart, and bitter touch—all beautifully complex. I love the texture here: sharp yet dynamic, taut and concentrated, with lovely precision and good overall structure. ” (Decanter 2022) - Château Puygueraud is under the wing of renowned winemaker Nicolas Thienpont, just like the Grand Cru Classé estates Pavie Macquin and Larcis Ducasse in Saint-Émilion.

Rated estate (2014 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
"The Thienpont family, owners of the estate since 1946, revived the Côtes de Francs appellation in 1983 with this premier cru. Nicolas Thienpont, who also oversees a premier cru classé in Saint-Emilion, produces a full-bodied, generous wine with well-controlled oak, designed for decent aging (five to ten years). The estate is consistent, and the vintages are of a high standard. In tribute to his father George, Nicolas Thienpont has created a cuvée bearing his father’s name, characterized by Malbec, a grape variety he particularly appreciated. A wine of strong character, yet not lacking in finesse.”

About the wine:
Puygueraud Blanc 2021 contains a higher proportion of Sauvignon Gris this year, as the Sauvignon Blanc was affected by frost. Harvested at 31 hl/ha from September 17 to 27, it offers a well-defined nose of Granny Smith apples, redcurrants, and nettles; an underlying note of petrichor emerges with aeration. The palate is actually more complex than the nose suggests, offering flavors of lime and Conference pear, as well as a pleasant body provided by the Sauvignon Gris. There is a hint of spice on the finish. It is worth seeking out. 2026–2035

About the wine:
Lots of white peach and sliced green apple with a hint of grapefruit. Medium-bodied. Tart fruit and a fresh, creamy finish. Two-thirds Sauvignon Blanc and one-third Sauvignon Gris.

About the wine:
With good intensity, the Puygueraud’s bouquet reveals fresh, fruity nuances of mirabelle plums and chalky notes. Slightly briny on the palate, the wine is delicious, fresh, and refreshing. A wine ready to delight many palates!
Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2022 guide) 90-91/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
A lovely, fresh nose with subtle intensity and a nice texture. The nose is distinctly marked by Sauvignon Gris. It features notes of kumquat, citrus zest, and, more subtly, crushed nectarine, combined with hints of fresh or crushed apple, touches of exotic berries, and a subtle hint of fresh verbena. The palate is fruity, fresh, elegant, and taut, offering lovely acidity, energy, an elegant and taut structure, richness, and roundness. There are notes of quince, lychee, and a hint of ripe lemon, combined with touches of kumquat and quince, as well as subtle hints of zest, a hint of refined minerality, and a subtle, almost varietal note of white flowers and lemon blossom. Good length. Lovely freshness, roundness, and generosity, along with a slightly chiseled edge. A lovely, tangy, indulgent, and savory finish.
