Notes: Robert Parker 87–90/100, Jancis Robinson 16/20, Jean-Marc Quarin 87/100
“Another fine wine from Puygueraud (the birthplace of the Thienpont family), the 2011 boasts a dense blue-violet color accompanied by abundant aromas of blueberry, blackberry, charcoal, and graphite. Clearly surpassing its modest pedigree, this revelation of the vintage possesses good structure, beautifully pure fruit, and drinkability for a decade.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker) • Delivered in a wooden case for orders of 6 bottles of this wine shipped within France •

Rated estate (2014 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

“The Thienpont family, owners of the estate since 1946, revived the Côtes de Francs appellation in 1983 with this first-rate cru. Nicolas Thienpont, who is also in charge of a Premier Cru Classé in Saint-Émilion, produces a full-bodied, generous wine with consistently well-controlled oak, designed for reasonable aging (five to ten years). The estate produces consistent wines, and the vintages are of a high standard. In tribute to his father George, Nicolas Thienpont has created a cuvée bearing his father’s name, characterized by Malbec, a grape variety his father particularly appreciated. It is a wine of strong character, yet not without finesse.”
