“A truly impressive wine!”

“Intense and expressive on the nose, the aromas burst from the glass (blackcurrant and milk chocolate). The palate is juicy with real purity. It also has a lovely texture, with fine, velvety tannins providing good structure and a lovely freshness from start to finish. Very elegant, easy to drink yet complex and flavorful. ” (Decanter 2022) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2018 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

This brand, named after Florence and Denis Dubourdieu, has benefited from the expertise and marketing acumen of the renowned Bordeaux oenologist, who sadly passed away in 2016. The whites, which express the astonishing minerality of a limestone terroir more than the varietal aromas of the local grape varieties, are incomparable. A small quantity of red wine, meticulously crafted and now matching the perfection of the white, is also produced. These are undoubtedly the stars of the appellation! The wines, both red and white (the white being better known due to its longer history), border on perfection, regardless of the vintage. The white wine offers great minerality, refined and exceptionally pure aromas, body, elegance, freshness, and an irresistible balance. The red, classic and elegant, is equally impressive.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Well known among wine enthusiasts, this estate is the creation of the “pope of Bordeaux white wines,” oenologist Denis Dubourdieu, who passed away in 2016. For many years now, Clos Floridène has undeniably been one of the appellation’s most reliable choices. The most striking aspect of the production lies in the profound classicism it expresses: far removed from the heavy, woody, and overly exuberant caricatures of white wines often found in ambitious Bordeaux châteaux, the Floridène white is a slender, straightforward wine, free of artifice, with crystalline purity. The red, an original expression of Cabernet Sauvignon on limestone, possesses the same distinguished elegance. These wines age beautifully for several years in the cellar.

About the wine:

The bouquet of Clos Floridène unfolds with subtlety and precision. Such precision and finesse! On the palate, the wine displays a creamy texture and freshness. It has good body, compact, fine-grained tannins, and a refreshing structure. A compelling wine and a truly fine achievement! 2024–2037

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

Deep, vibrant, and beautiful purple color. Intense, fruity, and fresh on the nose. Delicate on the palate at first, intricate in the mid-palate, and above all very aromatic, with good body and refined tannins; the wine lingers on the finish, long and full of vitality.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2020 guide) 90-91/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is aromatic and offers a subtle intensity. It reveals notes of plump black cherry and blackberry, juicy blackberry, and a hint of crushed redcurrant, combined with subtle hints of spice, cubeb pepper, and a barely perceptible touch of fresh tobacco. The palate is fruity and balanced, with a lively acidity, harmony, a touch of freshness, juiciness, good definition, smoothness, a delicate roundness, as well as subtle tension and good structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of ripe, juicy wild blackcurrant, small black berries, and a hint of wild raspberry, combined with subtle hints of morello cherry, lily, and violet, as well as subtle hints of cardamom, elegant minerality, and a subtle hint of fresh tobacco. Good length. The tannins are well-integrated.

Anthocyanins - Yohan Castaing

Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing

Wine rated (2020 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

A beautiful balance of smoky, dark fruit, and oak notes. Full-bodied on the palate, with the characteristic structure of Cabernet and the necessary roundness provided by the Merlot. The tannins are pronounced, much like in 2018, though with a bit more length and less roundness. Excellent aging potential.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 12/14/2023

A Bordeaux of great class, richly structured and enhanced by the meticulous care of the finest winemakers. The excellent 2019 vintage has endowed this wine with a striking finesse and added depth, further enriching it with crisp notes of blackcurrant and Garriguette strawberries, complemented by a hint of cardamom and a touch of licorice. This complex blend coats the palate with tannins of delicious creaminess and the bold freshness of a unique Cabernet Sauvignon. The finish is elegant and lingering, with earthy and smoky notes. A fine Bordeaux at an affordable price that will age well for about ten years. Full of energy, this wine worked wonders with venison fillets in Madeira sauce with chanterelle mushrooms. Rating = 4.
