About the estate:

This brand, which combines the first names of Florence and Denis Dubourdieu, benefited from the expertise and reputation of the famous Bordeaux oenologist, who sadly passed away in 2016. The whites, which express the surprising minerality of a limestone terroir more than the varietal aromas of the local grape varieties, are incomparable. A small quantity of red wine, which is very carefully produced and now rivals the perfection of the white, is also produced. These are undoubtedly the stars of the appellation! The wines, both red and white (the white being better known due to its longer history), are close to perfection, regardless of the vintage. The white wines are characterized by great minerality, racy and pure aromas, volume, elegance, freshness, and irresistible balance. The red wines, classic and elegant, are equally impressive.

Lively and bright in the glass, sharp and crisp, yet so well balanced with intensity and smoothness, it offers liveliness and energy, but also complexity of flavors—lemon, pineapple, apricot, and peach—sharp, almost sour, so tangy and zesty in the glass that sparkles with all its brilliance. This wine is extremely aromatic and flavorful, with a persistence that lasts throughout the tasting. I also like the touch of very sweet honeyed lemon that hides beneath the more pronounced acidity. About the estate:

Well known to wine lovers, this estate is the work of the pope of Bordeaux white wines, oenologist Denis Dubourdieu, who died in 2016. For many years, Clos Floridène has undoubtedly been one of the appellation's sure values. The most surprising thing about its production is the profound classicism it expresses: far from the heavy caricatures of woody and overly exuberant whites often found in ambitious Bordeaux châteaux, Floridène white is a slender, straightforward wine, without artifice, of crystalline purity. The red, an original expression of Cabernet Sauvignon on limestone, possesses the same distinguished elegance. These wines can age perfectly for several years in the cellar.

This full-bodied, mature wine has great acidity and ripe white fruit in balance. The wine is spicy, full of fruit and promise, and finishes with a hint of freshness. Drink from 2024 onwards.

Clos Floridène Blanc 2021 has an appealing, well-defined bouquet, quite floral and vibrant citrus complemented by white flowers. The palate is very well balanced, with fine delineation and quite taut. A touch of tart lemon gives energy to the finish. A delicious dry white Bordeaux.

This new vintage is a lively wine with generous notes of pink grapefruit and white flowers. With its liveliness as its backbone, the palate recalls the tangy, delicious notes of apricot with plenty of freshness and minerality. A fresh, racy wine that awakens the taste buds.

Hints of passion fruit and mango in the bouquet of Clos Floridène. Slightly salty on the attack, the wine seems quite restrained for a 2021, but it has good density and its liveliness brings out the freshness on the finish. 2024-2037
