"Experts agree: the most comprehensive ever produced, a benchmark vintage, guaranteed to have a bright future..."
"Camensac 2016 proved brilliant, revealing aromas of black berries, violets, rose petals, baking chocolate, and cherries. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it is a layered wine with impressive concentration, lively acidity, and a fragrant finish. I am sure that Camensac will reach even greater heights in the future, but for now, this is a benchmark vintage for the estate." Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100
Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
Complex nose, with cedar and spices, excellent body, slightly smoky tannins, perhaps due to the nature of the barrels, excellent development compared to the young wine. A bright future is guaranteed.
About the estate:
The Merlaut family strives to improve the wines from this fairly large vineyard, which neighbors the Saint-Julien appellation. Here, the focus is not on producing impressive samples, but rather on consistency and uniformity in the quality of the wine delivered. The arrival of a new and talented director has brought greater rigour and precision to the production of a typical Médoc wine with character, which is somewhat austere and reserved when young, but gradually reveals notes of cedar and spices. The latest vintages are therefore the ones to choose.

Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2020) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About wine:
Produced from a vineyard where Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are equally represented, this 2016 vintage stands out for its balance. First in its bouquet, where the wood complements the aromas of black fruits (blackberry and blackcurrant). Then on the palate, thanks to well-extracted tannins. 2023 - 2027

Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100
Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About wine:
The beautiful 2016 vintage is still a delight to taste, with its undeniable charm, refined palate, and silky tannins.
About the estate:
Camensac, acquired in 2005 by the Merlaut family, is now managed by the Chasse-Spleen team, led by Céline Villars-Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet. Recent investments have equipped the estate with the tools it needs to rise to the challenge. Over the last few vintages, substantial progress has been made and Camensac is one of the wines that enthusiasts should keep a close eye on, especially as the prices remain very reasonable, which we welcome.

James Suckling
Wine rated (2019 guide) 93/100
Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended
About wine:
A typical Médoc wine with excellent depth and beautiful harmony. I love the long, moderately tannic and flavorful finish that instinctively draws your hand back to the glass. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. Drink now or leave to age.
