"An impressive vintage!"

Harmony and a touch of charm make an ideal pairing. They open up wonderful prospects for Camensac 2020, but the tannins provide structure and ensure a good foundation for the whole palate. Even though "Camensac" means "the paths that lead to water," the 2020 certainly leads to pleasure! A harmonious and delicious wine supported by precise and velvety tannins. (Yves Beck 2022) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

The Merlaut family strives to improve the wines from this fairly large vineyard, which neighbors the Saint-Julien appellation. Here, the focus is not on producing impressive samples, but rather on consistency and uniformity in the quality of the wine delivered. The arrival of a new and talented director has brought greater rigour and precision to the production of a typical Médoc wine with character, which is somewhat austere and reserved when young, but gradually reveals notes of cedar and spices. The latest vintages are therefore the ones to choose.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2024) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About wine:

This Haut-Médoc, born of Merlot (47%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (53%), presents itself in a beautiful ruby color, with a nose marked by harmonious scents of ripe black berries, toasted oak, and eucalyptus. Dense, full-bodied and powerful, the palate is supported by solid tannins and a pleasant freshness that guarantee the future of this fine wine. 2027-2035

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About wine:

The wine has tightened up and closed in since our last tasting. It has substance and volume, but the finish is a little sharp, with tannins that are still trying to blend in. A wine with good volume to watch out for.

About the estate:

Camensac, acquired in 2005 by the Merlaut family, is now managed by the Chasse-Spleen team, led by Céline Villars-Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet. Recent investments have equipped the estate with the tools it needs to rise to the challenge. Over the last few vintages, substantial progress has been made and Camensac is one of the wines that enthusiasts should keep a close eye on, especially as the prices remain very reasonable, which we welcome.

Le Figaro vins

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

About wine:

An aromatic and fresh bouquet, full of confidence, with pink and red fruits, very well cut, elegant. A full but mellow texture on the palate, combined with the purity and intensity of black fruits. Delicious.

Land of Wines

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92-93/100

About wine:

With lovely notes of red fruit, the palate promises richness and freshness. Crisp on the palate, it has a pleasant chewiness, offering aromas of crushed strawberries and blackcurrants. Delicately acidic and coated with firm tannins that should soften with time, this is a well-structured wine.

Dark purple color with a violet hue and a black core. Very elegant and fairly closed nose, refined character with fragrant fruit. Discreet spices and pencil shavings. Notes of flint in the background with discreet floral notes. Excellent structure, tight texture with fine, almost silky tannins, fine acidity, elegant fruit and good balance, very convincing length.
