great success

“An impressive vintage!”

“Harmony and a touch of charm make for an ideal pairing. They open up wonderful possibilities for the 2020 Camensac, but the tannins provide ample structure and ensure a solid foundation for the entire palate. Even though “Camensac” means “the paths leading to the water,” the 2020 certainly leads to pleasure! A harmonious, delicious wine supported by precise, velvety tannins. » (Yves Beck 2022) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2021 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

The Merlaut family is committed to improving the wines from this fairly large vineyard, located near the Saint-Julien appellations. Here, the focus is not on creating a sensation with the samples, but on ensuring consistency and uniformity in the quality of the wine produced. The arrival of a new and talented director has brought greater rigor and precision to the production of a quintessential Médoc wine with character—one that is somewhat austere and reserved when young, but gradually reveals notes of cedar and spices. Therefore, opt for the most recent vintages.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2024) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About the wine:

This Haut-Médoc, a fine blend of Merlot (47%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (53%), presents a beautiful ruby color, with a nose marked by harmonious aromas of ripe black berries, toasted oak, and eucalyptus. Dense, full-bodied, and powerful, the palate is supported by firm tannins and a pleasant freshness that bode well for the future of this fine wine. 2027–2035

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the wine:

The wine has tightened up and closed in since our last tasting. It has body and volume, but the finish is a bit sharp, with tannins that still need to mellow. A full-bodied wine worth keeping an eye on.

About the estate:

Camensac, acquired in 2005 by the Merlaut family, is now managed by the Chasse-Spleen team, led by Céline Villars-Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet. Recent investments have equipped the estate with the resources needed to rise to the challenge. In fact, over the past few vintages, progress has been substantial, and Camensac is among the wines that enthusiasts should keep a close eye on, especially since prices remain very reasonable—a fact we welcome.

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92-93/100

About the wine:

A lovely burst of red fruit; the profile promises richness and freshness. The palate is crisp and has a nice texture, offering aromas of crushed strawberries and blackcurrants. With a subtle acidity and firm tannins that should soften with age, this is a well-structured wine.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

Deep purple color with violet hues and a black core. A very elegant and somewhat reserved nose, with a refined character and fragrant fruit. Subtle spices and pencil shavings. Notes of flint in the background with subtle floral notes. Excellent structure, tight framework with fine, almost silky tannins, delicate acidity, elegant fruit, and good balance; very convincing length.
