“I admire the body of this Camensac and the wonderful minerality of the finish. A highly recommended wine that should age beautifully! ~ Vinous”
“A lovely deep ruby color and excellent aromatic finesse from the oak, which doesn’t overpower but adds layers of smokiness to the blackcurrant and black cherry fruit. This wine is both nuanced and complex. It’s a rich wine that opens with notes of dark chocolate and licorice. Clearly appealing and with aging potential. ” (Decanter 2020) - An accessible and utterly inviting Médoc Grand Cru Classé! - Delivery in a wooden crate is available for orders of 6 magnums of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Nose
Before swirling, notes of redcurrants and raspberries. Then come floral aromas of fresh rose and very light woody notes with a hint of vanilla
Palate
A clean attack, with very refined tannins in a supple structure that enhances the mid-palate. The fruity and floral aromas come through clearly. Harmonious at this stage of development, it promises great delicacy. A very long finish that evokes the flavor of a delicious redcurrant jelly

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
The Merlaut family is committed to improving the wines from this fairly large vineyard, located near the Saint-Julien appellations. Here, the focus is not on creating a sensation with the samples, but on ensuring consistency and uniformity in the quality of the wine produced. The arrival of a new and talented director has brought greater rigor and precision to the production of a quintessential Médoc wine with character—one that is somewhat austere and reserved when young, but gradually reveals notes of cedar and spices. Therefore, opt for the most recent vintages.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 92/100
Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
The 2018 vintage is a major success, offering a lovely, full-bodied texture on the palate, with plenty of volume and depth. Very charming.
About the estate:
Camensac, acquired in 2005 by the Merlaut family, is now managed by the Chasse-Spleen team, led by Céline Villars-Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet. Recent investments have equipped the estate with the resources needed to rise to the challenge. In fact, over the past few vintages, progress has been substantial, and Camensac is among the wines that enthusiasts should keep a close eye on, especially since prices remain very reasonable—a fact we welcome.

About the wine:
This estate is regaining its rightful place among the prestigious classified growths. Richly textured, this latest vintage displays succulent blackberry fruit and layers of firm tannins. The wine will age well, so wait until 2026 to drink it.

About the wine:
The 2018 Château de Camensac has retained its appealing aromas, needing just a little coaxing to reveal notes of blackberry, blueberry, subtle marine hints, and iris petals—aromas I had noticed during the en barrique en primeur tasting. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with good structure and well-balanced acidity. I admire the substance of this Camensac and the salinity of the finish, which is wonderful. A recommended wine that should age well. 2022–2036

About the wine:
The nose offers notes of dried blueberries and redcurrants, along with savory hints of oyster shells, tobacco, and graphite. There are also hints of dried violets. It is medium-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins. Well-structured and flavorful. Balanced.

About the wine:
A deep garnet red. A pleasant, inviting bouquet with spicy and fruity notes. It stands out for the freshness of its fruit, with hints of raspberry followed by a touch of licorice. The attack confirms its potential, revealing a delicious and perfectly balanced wine. I would even say it is elegant, with the necessary balance and depth. A pleasant, seductive, and compelling wine. 2022–2038
