“Deep color with youthful highlights. A complex nose blending notes of black fruit and cocoa. On the palate, a dense, concentrated, tannic wine that expresses the same aromatic profile. A vintage that is still a bit firm and needs time to develop.” (Le Guide des Vins 2016 - Gilbert & Gaillard)

About the estate:
A noble estate in the 14th century, this 20-hectare vineyard is dominated by an elegant Carthusian monastery built by Victor Louis in the late 18th century. It was purchased in 1964 by the Touchais family, who had come from the Anjou wine region. Luc Touchais replanted the vineyard beginning in 1973 and passed it on in 2005 to his son Lionel, an oenologist with extensive experience at various foreign estates.

Pretty average, with a bitter aftertaste—maybe it needs to age a bit longer?
