"Great potential"
"This family-owned estate produces a dense, deep wine. With lots of ripe berries and lovely acidity, the wine is well-proportioned, juicy , and firm. Fragrant notes of blackcurrant and beautiful balance are the hallmarks of this wine." (Wine Enthusiast 2018) A great deal and great potential!

About wine:
Smoky, fruity, mineral nose with hints of incense; supple, full-bodied, honest, fresh, and invigorating on the palate.

About the estate:
A noble estate in the 14th century, this 20-hectare vineyard is dominated by an elegant charterhouse built by Victor Louis at the end of the 18th century. It was purchased in 1964 by the Touchais family, who came from the Anjou vineyards. Luc Touchais replanted it in 1973 and passed it on to his son Lionel in 2005, an oenologist with experience in various foreign estates.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2017 guide) 88/100 (Good wine)
About wine:
Tasted during the annual Cru Bourgeois tasting, Château Balac 2015 offers a nose of tightly coiled black fruits, almost overwhelming with hints of cedar and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth attack, a fine hint of acidity, and a fairly muscular finish that suggests it will benefit from another three years in the bottle. Good potential. Tasted in September 2017.
