“Great potential”
“This family-owned estate produces a dense, deep wine. With plenty of ripe berries and lovely acidity, the wine is well-balanced, juicy , and firm. Fragrant notes of blackcurrant and a beautiful balance are the hallmarks of this wine.” (Wine Enthusiast 2018) A great deal and excellent potential!

Smoky, fruity, and mineral on the nose, with hints of incense; supple, full-bodied, clean, fresh, and lively on the palate.

About the estate:
A noble estate in the 14th century, this 20-hectare vineyard is dominated by an elegant Carthusian monastery built by Victor Louis in the late 18th century. It was purchased in 1964 by the Touchais family, who had moved from the Anjou region. Luc Touchais began replanting the vineyard in 1973 and passed it on in 2005 to his son Lionel, an oenologist with extensive experience at various foreign estates.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2017 guide) 88/100 (Good wine)
About the wine:
Tasted at the annual Cru Bourgeois tasting, the 2015 Château Balac offers a nose of tightly wound black fruits, almost overwhelming, with hints of cedar and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture on entry, a delicate touch of acidity, and a fairly robust finish that suggests it will benefit from another three years in bottle. Good potential. Tasted in September 2017.
