"It takes off in this vintage with very expressive fruit and rare elegance. Built to stand the test of time!"

"A more "comfortable" yield has enabled a demanding blend. In addition to its usual finesse, this wine has a deep color, great fruitiness reminiscent of blueberry jelly, an appetizing juiciness and a fine smoky note. The tannic structure is perfect, present but supple, slender and svelte enough to stand the test of time". Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Philippe Castéja has worked hard to restore a superb family estate in the Pauillac hinterland. The aging of the vines and the construction of a high-performance work tool enable him to produce a supple, fleshy wine that is constantly improving. Its terroir enables it to open up before most of the wines in its appellation, which should make it more present on restaurant menus, with good value for money.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2025 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

A heady nose of remarkable opulence, with notes of sun-kissed fruit. The palate is concentrated and rich in fleshy fruit, underpinned by refreshing acidity that gives structure and energy. I particularly appreciate its fine, saline tannins, with hints of mint, clove and licorice. It's not quite open yet, but retains a fairly pure structure, and the different elements are very well presented, with power and balance. The finish reveals notes of plum, blackcurrant, black pepper and tobacco. 2028-2048

Guide Hachette des vins

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté (guide 2021) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

Owned since the 18th century by Count Lynch, until it was divided in two, giving Lynch Moussas and Lynch-Bages. Émile Castéja, who joined the family in 1919, took over the estate in 1969 and restructured the vines and winery. His son Philippe has been at the helm of this 35-hectare cru, close to Batailley, also owned by the Castéja family, since 2001.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 95/100

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the wine:

This vintage takes off, with very expressive fruit and plenty of substance. It fills the palate, with notes of red fruit jelly and a finish of silky tannins.

About the domain :

For several years now, Philippe Castéja has been giving new impetus to this classified growth. Oenologist Denis Dubourdieu has carried out extensive work on the estate, starting with the reorganization of the vineyard. Over the last few vintages, the wines have progressed and the château benefits from technical facilities that should enable it to go even further. Lynch-Moussas produces a relatively fine, medium-bodied wine that can be drunk fairly quickly.

About the wine:

Very clear and transparent, with aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, pencil lead, mint and violet. These aromas continue into a medium body with ultra-fine tannins that linger. What finesse and rare elegance! Crisp finish. 74% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26% Merlot. To be enjoyed after 2028.

Bernard Burtschy

Bernard Burtschy

Wine rated (2023 guide) 95-96/100

About the wine:

Over the past twenty years, progress has been impressive, and the 2022 vintage marks an important milestone. With its licorice notes, it is seductive, yet masks a beautiful density. Classic in style, it has gained in elegance to become one of the great Pauillacs, offering unbeatable value for money.
