Lucien Guillemet's wines, particularly Boyd-Cantenac, have an incomparable style that is very distinctive. Some will notice the woodiness that stands out through roasted notes, but it would be a shame not to pay attention to the inviting and obvious fruity notes that enrich the bouquet! On the palate, the wine has a delicious attack! It is dense and charming. Its fine tannins reveal themselves slowly and harmonize with the acidic structure. The latter adds zest and ensures a fresh finish. A tasty and delicious wine that deserves a little aging. 2026-2044" (Yves Beck 2021) - Delivery in wooden crates for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).

Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2018 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About wine:

Intense and flavorful, with cedar notes and lots of personality. A wine for aging, offering remarkable value for money.

About the estate:

This small 17-hectare vineyard is run by its owner Lucien Guillemet, as is its neighbor Château Pouget. An agricultural engineer and oenologist, he is a perfectionist but, by nature, eschews trends and modernity. He knows his craft inside out and, in recent vintages, has continued to produce well-rounded wines with great aging potential.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100

About wine:

Dark and concentrated nose with intense blackberry aromas. Excellent structure right from the start. You can feel the density of the fruit, so well proportioned and balanced. It is rich and full on the palate with a refreshing menthol aspect. It has beautiful spicy edges and a bright acidity that propels it forward. The texture is remarkable, with soft but present tannins that give a very appealing mouthfeel. I really wanted another glass, but it will be even better with a few more years of aging. Drinking window: 2027-2044.

Rated estate (2018 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the estate:

A beautiful terroir of lean siliceous gravel (17 hectares), a diverse range of grape varieties, including Petit Verdot, and a family with strong roots in the Médoc, the Guillemets (owners since 1932). The latter do not sacrifice quality for fashion and aim for balance and finesse in their wines. An authentic grand cru, created in 1754 by a Belfast wine merchant, run since 1996 by oenologist and agronomist Lucien Guillemet.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2018 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

This wine, with its lovely soft and silky texture, enveloped in charming but not yet fully integrated oak, will need a little time. Nice tannin structure and beautifully smooth texture.

About the estate:

Lucien Guillemet, a discreet and affable man, manages his estate with the utmost care. Here, there is nothing flashy about the cellars or even the bottles. Nevertheless, the wine is one of the most exciting classic expressions of the appellation. It ages perfectly well in the bottle, revealing itself to be graceful and very silky. The consistency of recent vintages has led us to award it a second star this year.

About wine:

Aromas of blackberries, blueberries, dried leaves, earth, charcoal, toasted nuts, and graphite. The wine is medium-bodied to full-bodied with firm, tight tannins. Structured and compact with a damp earth character. Try after 2025.

About wine:

Remarkably smoky on the nose, with notes of charcoal and flowers. On the palate, a wonderful combination of very fresh, crisp fruit and the smoky notes detected on the nose. A lovely finish with coffee aromas.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100

About wine:

Dark, intense, purple color. Very aromatic, fruity nose with an original hint of hazelnut. Delicate on the palate, aromatic in the middle, with a mellow body and flavor, the wine develops a slightly austere but tasty character. Medium-length finish where the wood comes through a little at the moment, while the tannins remain refined.
