Notes: Robert Parker 92/100, Bettane & Desseauve 17.5/20, RVF 17/20, Guide Hachette 3*** (Exceptional wine) + Coup de Coeur
"The 2009 vintage, with its deep purple color, has a beautiful nose of blueberry liqueur, acacia flowers, licorice, graphite, and wood smoke. A great Margaux, floral and elegant, with exceptional purity, medium-bodied, admirably concentrated, and rich. It does not lose the typical characteristics expected of wines from this region, and tends to be significantly more elegant and less muscular than the Saint-Julien, Pauillac, and Saint-Estèphe wines further north. Given its tannic profile, Boyd-Cantenac 2009 requires 5 to 8 years of cellaring and should last for three decades. Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2018 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
This small 17-hectare vineyard is run by its owner Lucien Guillemet, as is its neighbor Château Pouget. An agricultural engineer and oenologist, he is a perfectionist but, by nature, eschews trends and modernity. He knows his craft inside out and, in recent vintages, has continued to produce well-rounded wines with great aging potential.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2018 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the estate:
A beautiful terroir of lean siliceous gravel (17 hectares), a diverse range of grape varieties, including Petit Verdot, and a family with strong roots in the Médoc, the Guillemets (owners since 1932). The latter do not sacrifice quality for fashion and aim for balance and finesse in their wines. An authentic grand cru, created in 1754 by a Belfast wine merchant, run since 1996 by oenologist and agronomist Lucien Guillemet.

About the estate:
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2018 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
Lucien Guillemet, a discreet and affable man, manages his estate with the utmost care. Here, there is nothing flashy about the cellars or even the bottles. Nevertheless, the wine is one of the most exciting classic expressions of the appellation. It ages perfectly well in the bottle, revealing itself to be graceful and very silky. The consistency of recent vintages has led us to award it a second star this year.
