"Undoubtedly a great vintage, one whose unique charm is a delight to rediscover!"

"An intense purple color with violet highlights and a black core. A sophisticated nose with complex aromas evoking ripe blackcurrants, blackcurrant stems, sweet blackberries, and notes of ripe blueberries. In the background, oriental spices and floral nuances reminiscent of rose and Darjeeling tea. On the palate, the wine is expressive and harmonious, with silky tannins, juicy fruit, elegant spices, subtle oak, and a delicate toasted note, offering a magnificent texture and excellent length.” (Markus Del Monego 2025) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2018 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

The mutual insurance group MACSF, now the owner of this highly prestigious estate, is doing everything in its power to uphold its prestige and quality, under the effective leadership of Dominique Befve. The wine, always made from very ripe grapes, possesses a fullness and smoothness rarely found in Margaux, and one must rejoice in the charm and finesse of the second wine, Chevalier-de-Lascombes, which embodies the aromatic allure of the vineyard.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2018 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Founded in the 15th century by Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes, acquired in 1952 by Alexis Lichine, and then by the wine merchant Bass & Charrington in 1971, this estate lay dormant until its purchase in 2001 by the American investment fund Colony Capital. A major program was launched under the leadership of Dominique Befve, formerly of the Rothschild estates, to renovate this vast, highly fragmented 112-hectare vineyard. Lascombes, acquired in 2011 by MACSF, has now regained its former standing.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

The wine displays its usual flamboyance, with a full-bodied, ripe—yet not cloying—palate. Beautiful notes of black fruit, with a finish featuring generous yet well-integrated tannins. This is a Lascombes with great potential, and it’s very appealing.

About the estate:

Since coming under the ownership of MACSF, the mutual insurance company for healthcare professionals, in 2011, Lascombes has regained its composure and can now look to the future with confidence. The new owner makes no secret of his ambition to elevate Lascombes to the level of a very good second growth. Under the direction of Dominique Befve, the wine has already made significant progress in recent years, taking another step forward in the early 2010s. It is now consistent.

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95-96/100

About the wine:

The initial, subtle nose gradually opens up to reveal blackcurrant purée, enhanced by minty notes. The palate is very straightforward, with a vibrant attack reminiscent of “After Eight.” The body is full and easy to drink, supported by a lovely, enveloping tannic structure. With a fresh and savory finish, this is a wine that stands out for its drinkability.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

The charming character for which Château Lascombes is known is, of course, a hit in 2020! The bouquet is very inviting, with notes of coffee and chocolate, complemented by hints of iris, grenadine, and raspberries. Smooth from the first sip, Lascombes is well-supported by fine-grained tannins. An inviting, seductive, yet compelling wine. A charmer that stands on its own! 2025–2037
