"It holds its own against its prestigious older sibling, with a velvety, smooth style!"

“The bouquet offers lovely fruity intensity, complemented by notes of chocolate, making the wine incredibly inviting right from the start! The palate lives up to the bouquet’s promise; it is velvety, elegant, and perfectly balanced. A refined wine with solid tannic structure… it remains a Bordeaux, and that’s just fine!” (Yves Beck 2021) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Wine rated (2021 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2018 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the wine:

Smooth and aromatic, approachable at first but without any attempt to seduce other than through its natural expression, the beautiful ripeness of the grapes, and careful aging in the lovely new cellar.

About the estate:

The mutual insurance group MACSF, now the owner of this highly prestigious estate, is doing everything in its power to uphold its prestige and quality, under the effective leadership of Dominique Befve. The wine, always made from very ripe grapes, possesses a fullness and smoothness rarely found in Margaux, and one must rejoice in the charm and finesse of the second wine, Chevalier-de-Lascombes, which embodies the aromatic allure of the vineyard.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100

About the wine:

Delicate aromas of violet and rose blend with the sweetness of blackcurrant—a refined and approachable wine. The palate is dense and velvety, with ripe, well-defined tannins. The palate is complex and spicy, with licorice emerging in the mid-palate and lingering for a long time. There are notes of blackberry, a juicy attack, followed by dense, dry tannins. The fruit is fragrant. This wine needs time to fully develop. 2022–2030

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2023) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

The estate’s second wine has nothing to be ashamed of when compared to its prestigious “big brother.” A robust Chevalier, rich yet fresh, concentrated, with ripe tannins and a lovely finish. It can be cellared with confidence. 2026–2032

About the estate:

Founded in the 15th century by Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes, acquired in 1952 by Alexis Lichine, and then by the wine merchant Bass & Charrington in 1971, this estate lay dormant until its purchase in 2001 by the American investment fund Colony Capital. A major program was launched under the leadership of Dominique Befve, formerly of the Rothschild estates, to renovate this vast, highly fragmented 112-hectare vineyard. Lascombes, acquired in 2011 by MACSF, has now regained its former standing.

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Since coming under the ownership of MACSF, the mutual insurance company for healthcare professionals, in 2011, Lascombes has regained its composure and can now look to the future with confidence. The new owner makes no secret of his ambition to elevate Lascombes to the level of a very good second growth. Under the direction of Dominique Befve, the wine has already made significant progress in recent years, taking another step forward in the early 2010s. It is now consistent.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100

About the wine:

Chevalier de Lascombes 2019 is a rich, full-bodied wine, ready to drink now and over the next few years. It reveals pronounced aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, spices, chocolate, and tobacco. It is a particularly flamboyant style, yet one of great harmony. 2022–2029

The bouquet offers a lovely intensity of fruit, complemented by notes of chocolate, making the wine incredibly inviting right from the start!
