"It has no reason to be ashamed in comparison to its prestigious big brother, with its velvety, smooth style!"

"A beautifully intense, fruity bouquet, complemented by notes of chocolate, making this wine very inviting indeed! The palate lives up to the promise of the bouquet; it is velvety, elegant, and perfectly balanced. A fine wine, well supported by its tannic structure... it remains a Bordeaux, and that's just fine!" Wine rated (2021 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2018 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About wine:

Smooth, fragrant, easy at first but without any attempt at seduction other than natural expression, the beautiful maturity of the grapes and careful aging in the beautiful new cellar.

About the estate:

The mutual insurance group MACSF, now the owner of this very important property, is doing everything possible to ensure its prestige and quality, under the effective leadership of Dominique Befve. The wine, always made from very ripe grapes, has a fullness and smoothness that is rare in Margaux, and the charm and finesse of the second wine, Chevalier-de-Lascombes, with its seductive aromas, is a delight.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100

About wine:

Delicate aromas of violet and rose mingle with the sweetness of blackcurrant—a refined and accessible wine. The palate is dense and velvety, with ripe, well-present tannins. The heart is complex and spicy, with licorice notes developing in the mid-palate and lingering on the finish. There are hints of blackberry, a juicy attack, followed by dense, dry tannins. The fruit is fragrant. This wine needs time to develop. 2022-2030

Wine noted (guide 2023) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About wine:

The estate's second wine has no reason to be ashamed in comparison to its prestigious "big brother." A well-structured Chevalier, both rich and fresh, concentrated, with ripe tannins and good length. It can be cellared with confidence. 2026-2032

About the estate:

Founded in the 15th century by the knight Antoine de Lascombes, acquired in 1952 by Alexis Lichine, then by the Bass & Charrington wine merchant in 1971, this estate lay dormant until it was bought in 2001 by the American investment fund Colony Capital. A major program was implemented under the leadership of Dominique Befve, formerly of the Rothschild estates, to renovate this vast, highly fragmented 112-hectare vineyard. Lascombes, acquired in 2011 by MACSF, has now regained its status.

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

After coming under the control of MACSF, the mutual insurance company for healthcare professionals, in 2011, Lascombes has regained its composure and can now look to the future. The new owner makes no secret of his ambition to raise Lascombes to the level of a very good second growth. Under the leadership of Dominique Befve, the estate has already made good progress in recent years, taking another step forward in the early 2010s. It is now consistent.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100

About wine:

Chevalier de Lascombes 2019 is a rich and heady wine, to be enjoyed now and over the next few years. It reveals pronounced aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, spices, chocolate, and tobacco. It is a particularly flamboyant style, but one of great harmony. 2022-2029
