Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 17/20 (Top-rated wine)
Rated estate (2020 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the wine:
A very nice wine, with a delicate texture, lovely fruit, a pleasant style, and a refined finish. It likely offers good value for the price.
About the estate:
Under the capable leadership of Ludovic David, with the full support of the Sénéclauze family—owners of the 40-hectare vineyard since 1935—this wine has gradually refined its tannic structure and the integration of its oak aging. Ludovic David has brought about a true revolution in the winemaking and aging of this wine, which benefits from a remarkable terroir, equipping it with the most modern tools. This has allowed it to rediscover its Margaux character and, since 2010, to rival the best wines in the region.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2022 guide) 2 stars (Outstanding wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the wine:
While the wood is still very much present on the nose and palate, the intensity of the ripe red and black fruit aromas in the former, and the depth and robust tannins in the latter, leave no doubt as to the quality and aging potential of this fine bottle.
About the estate:
Straddling the towns of Margaux and Cantenac, this estate—founded in 1762—has been owned by the Sénéclauze family since 1935. At the helm of the 40-hectare vineyard since 2009 is Ludovic David, an agricultural engineer who cut his teeth in the Libourne region under Bernard Magrez. In 2019, a restaurant opened to complement the existing tourist offerings.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2021 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Marquis de Terme bursts from the glass with lively, joyful notes of kirsch, black raspberries, and blackcurrant candies, followed by hints of anise, damp earth, and bouquet garni. The medium-bodied palate is delicate in style, with only 13% alcohol by volume and plenty of youthful vigor; dried herbs accentuate the red and black fruits, supported by approachable, velvety tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with lovely liveliness. It is an excellent example of a fresher style for this vintage.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100
Rated Estate (2023 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
The 2018 vintage handles its character and its intensity well. It is a wine that strikes a balance and retains its freshness.
About the estate:
Owned by the Sénéclauze family, this understated wine has been gaining in depth and precision over the past few vintages. This is due in part to Ludovic David, the estate’s director, who has taken charge of the vineyard and modernized the winemaking facilities. The desire to produce fuller-bodied wines, and above all, wines with more velvety tannins, is clearly evident; all that is missing is a touch of additional refinement, which seems to be emerging in the very latest vintages.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100
Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)
About the wine:
In this wine, dark fruit and tannins combine to create a dry core and a rich texture that is already beautifully integrated with the fruit. The fresh acidity adds to the wine’s appeal and its aging potential. Best enjoyed starting in 2026.

About the wine:
Intense deep purple color. A clean, floral nose featuring violet, blackcurrant, blackberry, sage, and mint. Full-bodied on the palate, with dense fruit that is moderately extracted, supple tannins, fresh aromas of black fruit, kirsch, and tobacco, and a long, velvety finish. An elegant texture, almost Burgundian in style.

Yves Beck
Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
This wine boasts a fruit-forward bouquet, featuring notes of red and black berries along with hints of licorice. It is delicious and inviting on the palate. The wine is elegant, balanced, and well-supported by its fresh acidity, while the tannins provide a solid foundation. A savory, distinguished wine that can be enjoyed now in its youth, while still possessing aging potential. Lingering finish. 2023–2040
