"Here is a margaux of fine finesse, with a loose side and a delicate palate ~ La RVF "

"Prieuré-Lichine 2018 is a gorgeous, elegant wine. The powerful aromas of Cabernet give it savory notes that match the natural brilliance of the vintage. Sumptuous and sensual, with no harshness and exceptional balance, this 2018 hits all the right notes. Notes of dried herbs, rose petals, cedar, tobacco and mint linger on the finely cut, persistent finish. This is a particularly understated wine for the year. " (Vinous 2021) - Delivery in wooden case possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

Wine rated (2019 guide) 94/100

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the wine:

Powerful, austere, sincere and complex. It will certainly mature.

About the domain :

With its complex parcels of land planted in different parts of the appellation, this cru is gradually becoming a benchmark for attentive observers. The new vat room allows parcel-by-parcel vinification, giving each parcel its own chance, and the viticultural choices inspired by the estate's consultant, Stéphane Derenoncourt, explain the quality of the latest harvest. The wine has all the finesse and grace expected, in an immediately perceptible form, and the prices remain reasonable.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

Power, character and deliciousness abound, with well-controlled blackcurrant and Damask fruit notes. This is a well-made wine with chocolate chips, silky tannins and a very spicy finish. Yield 35 hl/ha. 45% new oak. 2026-2042

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

Founded by the monks of Vertheuil Abbey, the former priory of Saint-Didier de Cantenac was already producing a renowned wine under the Ancien Régime. But it owes its fame - and its current name: the cru was then called Prieuré-Cantenac - to Alexis Lichine. This famous American-Russian landowner and wine merchant, nicknamed the "Pope of Wine" and author of the long-revered Encyclopedia of Wines and Spirits of All Countries, acquired the vineyard in 1951 and brought it back to life. Owned by the Ballande Bordeaux group since 1999, it comprises 80 hectares of vines on the heart of the Cantenac-Margaux plateau. Technical management has been in the hands of Étienne Charrier since 2009.

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

Since 1999, the vineyard has belonged to the Ballande Group, based in New Caledonia. Since the new vat room came on stream in 2013, we've seen significant progress. The wines, which sometimes lacked volume and depth compared with the best, have become much denser. This new ambition and the means that have been given were necessary. Reasonable prices make this a good deal for wine-lovers.

About the wine:

This wine reveals the generous richness of the vintage, while retaining its finesse thanks to fine tannins and clean blackcurrant acidity. Structure and fruit promise long ageing. Drink from 2027. - Roger Voss

About the wine:

Nose of blackberries, white pepper and some tile nuances. Full-bodied with tight, chewy tannins, but so beautifully polished and composed. Persistent finish. Needs time to soften and blend. Best enjoyed after 2024.
