"An instant charm"

“The 2019 S de Siran has a light nose of red fruit, with a slightly earthy character. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with firm tannins and good density, and has a fairly structured finish . A highly recommended second wine.” (Vinous, Neal Martin – 2021)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2021 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

This Margaux estate, situated on the beautiful gravel soils of Labarde, has been managed by Édouard Miailhe since 2007. Siran’s wines are always charming in their youth and develop greater complexity with age, notably featuring notes of old-fashioned roses and spices that lend them finesse and elegance. Siran’s wines could be classified as Margaux classics. Since the 2015 vintage, there has been a noticeable shift in style, which now leans more toward extreme power. To be continued.

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

Formerly owned by Toulouse-Lautrec’s great-grandmother, Château Siran became part of the Miailhe family in 1859. Since 2007, Édouard Miailhe has been at the helm. The vineyard spans 36 hectares: 9 hectares of Bordeaux Supérieur, 2 hectares of Haut-Médoc, and 25 hectares of Margaux, located in the southern part of the appellation on the gravelly plateau of Labarde; a terroir of exceptional quality that would undoubtedly have earned it a place in the famous 1855 classification had the Miailhes arrived earlier.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

This superbly situated Margaux wine would more than deserve a place among the classified growths, especially since, under the guidance of Edouard Miailhe, it has risen to its highest level of quality. Its remarkable terroir, located in the appellation’s southernmost commune (Labarde), stretches across a superb plateau of siliceous gravel. Tasting older vintages—which the château is fortunate enough to have in its cellar—reveals the full potential of this estate. Over the past decade, it has reached truly remarkable levels and will age beautifully.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity, offering subtle intensity and a touch of refined minerality. It reveals notes of fresh strawberry, raspberry, and, more subtly, pulpy dark berries, combined with hints of licorice, chocolate, and subtle toasty notes. The palate is fruity and offers freshness, a lovely tangy structure, a certain delicacy, and roundness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy, tart red currants, tart, crisp strawberries, and, to a lesser extent, juicy, tart blueberries, combined with a touch of fresh, crisp black berries, a refined minerality, and subtle hints of licorice, cocoa, toasty notes, and a very subtle hint of tobacco (in the background). The tannins are supple.
