"A second wine that is enjoyable to drink or keep!"

"What fruity freshness in this bouquet, with hints of red berries and licorice. This wine immediately makes you want to drink it. Its sapid, digestible, and juicy character on the palate also contributes to this." (Yves Beck 2021) - The Delon family, who run the famous Châteaux Léoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis, and Nénin, also manage the Potensac estate in the Médoc AOC. Thanks to their unparalleled expertise, the wines are consistently excellent and offer outstanding value for money. This is evident in Chapelle de Potensac 2019, an accessible and delicious second wine!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Undoubtedly the most highly regarded wine in the Médoc appellation, Potensac owes its success to the quality of the winemaking teams assembled by the Delon family, owners of the château, who work to the same exacting standards as at Léoville-Las Cases. The very old age of the vineyard, with some Cabernet plots over 80 years old, does not prevent it from being perfectly productive! The wine is classic in style, with notes of cedar on the nose and spices in the tannins, and a lot of firmness. It is currently evolving towards greater immediacy and suppleness. The latest vintages are majestic and classy, and will console all those who can no longer afford the most famous wines.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2020 guide) 90/100

About wine:

The nose is marked by notes of raspberry leaves, giving it a floral touch that is enriched by raspberry fruit on the attack. This wine is flavorful and juicy, accessible but with a hint of tannins on the finish. A pleasant second wine. 2023-2034

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

A beautiful estate located on one of the highest points in northern Médoc, this renowned cru, run by Jean-Hubert Delon (Léoville Las Cases), covers most of its 84 hectares on clay-gravel hilltops with limestone subsoil and a high proportion of gravel, a terroir similar to that of Saint-Estèphe. Not to be missed.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 88/100 (Good wine)

About wine:

Production of La Chapelle de Potensac 2019 was halved because vines deemed to have been planted in unsuitable locations were uprooted. The result of this drastic selection of raw materials is an improvement in quality. Notes of cherries, sweet berries, and forest floor precede a medium-bodied to full-bodied palate that is ample and vibrant, framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the slightly grippy finish. 2021-2035

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Bargain hunters know that Château Potensac is the flagship of the Médoc appellation, thanks to the 300,000 bottles produced each year and the consistency of its quality. The little brother of Léoville Las Cases, it benefits from all the expertise of the team and, thanks to the aging of the vineyard, now produces the best wine in its appellation. Delicious after two or three years in the bottle, it is also capable of aging for a long time. Its style combines generosity and precision, without heaviness or vulgarity.
