“A majestic Potensac that leaves all other wines from its appellation far behind. A nose of great finesse and exemplary classicism; a very pure palate, though powerful, with very dense tannins; great depth with beautiful aromatic brilliance and an endless finish. A truly great Médoc, and the only one to possess this pedigree and class. ” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines) • Delivered in a wooden case for orders of 12 bottles of this wine shipped within France •

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2012 guide) 17/20 (Reference wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
A majestic Potensac that leaves all other wines from its appellation far behind. The nose displays great finesse and exemplary classicism; the palate is very pure yet powerful, with very dense tannins, great depth, beautiful aromatic vibrancy, and an endless finish. A truly great Médoc, and the only one to possess such distinction and class.
About the estate:
Undoubtedly the most highly regarded wine in the Médoc appellation, Potensac owes its success to the quality of the winemaking teams assembled by the Delon family, the château’s owners, who work to the same exacting standards as at Léoville-Las Cases. The vineyard’s advanced age—with some Cabernet plots over 80 years old—does not prevent it from being perfectly productive! The wine embodies the classic style to the highest degree, with notes of cedar on the nose and spices in the tannins, and great firmness. It is currently evolving toward greater immediate finesse and suppleness. The latest vintages are majestic and of the highest class; they will console all those who can no longer afford the most famous wines.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2012) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the wine:
A stunning estate spanning over 70 hectares, this cru—a cousin of Léoville Las Cases—is one of the appellation’s most renowned. This 2008 vintage boasts a beautiful deep purple hue and evokes black berries (blackcurrant) and sweet spices (vanilla, licorice). Its round body is supported by powerful, lingering tannins. Perfectly balanced, this wine promises to age well through 2013–2015.
About the estate:
A beautiful estate situated on one of the highest points in northern Médoc, this renowned estate, led by Jean-Hubert Delon (Léoville Las Cases), covers most of its 84 hectares on clay-gravel ridges with limestone subsoil and a high proportion of gravel—a terroir similar to that of Saint-Estèphe. A must-visit.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2012 guide) 16/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
The very essence of umami—so cherished by the Japanese—with notes of ripe tomato and a cigar box. A masterpiece of elegance, beautifully crafted. A whole new level of subtlety.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2011 guide) 87/100 (Very good wine)
About the wine:
This elegant, medium-bodied wine offers notes of sweet plum, dark cherry, red currant, and forest floor, along with good freshness, crisp acidity, and ripe tannins. It should be enjoyed within 7 to 8 years.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2013 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
As for the 2008 vintage, it reaffirms its status as a reliable choice; it is a full-bodied, generous wine with excellent aging potential.
About the estate:
As bargain hunters know, Château Potensac is the flagship of the Médoc appellation, thanks to the 300,000 bottles produced each year and the consistency of its quality. As the younger sibling of Léoville Las Cases, it benefits from the team’s full expertise, and thanks to the aging of the vineyard, it now produces the best wine in its appellation. Delicious after two or three years in the bottle, it also has the potential for long-term aging. Its style blends richness and precision, without heaviness or vulgarity.

In my opinion, it offers great value for the price. It has good aging potential (as far as I can tell).
