Rating: Guide Hachette 2** (Outstanding Wine), Gault Millau 15.5/20, Le Point 15/20, Bettane & Desseauve 7/10, Decanter 3***
2003 is an atypical vintage! Indeed, the scorching summer produced a magnificent wine that is highly concentrated, full-bodied, and fruit-forward. It has a deep color and supple, rounded tannins. It is ready to drink now and should continue to be enjoyable for another ten years or so...

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Rated (2012 Guide) 4*Stars (Very high-quality production)
About the estate:
“Acquired in 1965 by Marc Pagès—who has since passed away, but whose two grandsons are still involved at La Tour de By—the château is beautifully situated on the banks of the Gironde. Now covering nearly 100 hectares, the vineyard includes a beautiful plot near the château, on magnificent Garonne gravel soils, as well as another located in Saint-Christoly, on clay-limestone terroir. La Tour de By has been managed since 2005 by Frédéric Le Clerc, one of Marc Pagès’s grandsons.”

Rated estate (2012 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
“A good half of the vineyard occupies the most beautiful hilltop of Bégadan’s Gunzian gravel soils, along the riverbank, in a magnificent setting. The microclimate favors Merlot and Cabernet, planted in equal proportions. The estate owes much to the dedication of Marc Pagès, who has since passed away. His heirs are continuing along the same path, pushing even further in their pursuit of maturity and precision in winemaking. The most recent vintages are impressive.”
