“Full-bodied tannins, a round palate, yet such elegance and refinement ~ Vinous”

“Right from the start, the Cabernet Sauvignon takes the lead… with enthusiasm and intensity, expressing notes of eucalyptus, raspberries, and licorice. It’s clearly happy to be here—the signals are so positive! On the palate, the wine stands out for its juicy and linear qualities. It is muscular—or rather, sculpted—with fleshy tannins, but not too much, which are in perfect balance with a sharp acidity, but not too sharp either! Everything is coherent, with an obvious focus on harmony, without, however, obscuring the distinctive characteristics of Pauillac. A Duhart-Milon that isn’t afraid to stand out and carries itself with a confidence worthy of great wines. Kudos to the teams who paid close attention and contributed to this very convincing result. A great wine in the making. ” (Yves Beck 2026)

Rated estate (2020 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

The Duhart vineyard is located in the heart of Pauillac’s finest terroirs and rivals the incomparable quality of Lafite, though its drainage is perhaps slightly less ideal. The blend relies more heavily on Merlot, which better rounds out the very firm tannins that the terroir imparts to the Cabernets. We did not fully find in the bottled wines the richness and, above all, the purity of the samples tasted en primeur, but the wines clearly possess a distinct Pauillac character. The remarkable 2018 vintage should mark a major milestone in the desired progress.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

On the nose, aromas of blackcurrant and dried herbs. Immediately luscious and full-bodied on the palate, instantly charming and supple, almost creamy with a hint of powdery tannins—but what depth and concentration of fruit! Ripe yet still fresh, it offers both richness and vibrancy. A remarkable structure—nothing is overdone. Fleshy tannins, a round palate, yet such elegance and refinement, with a vein of lively, crisp, and dynamic acidity that carries the overall expression. Incredible length. Brilliant. 13% press wine. 2033–2050

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2020 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

These former lands of the “Prince of Vines,” Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur (18th century), were long owned by the Castéja family, who gave the cru its name (that of a privateer under Louis XV who settled in Pauillac upon his retirement, whose house now adorns the label). Sold in 1937, fragmented, and in decline, the Duhart-Milon vineyard was purchased in 1962 by the Rothschilds, who restructured and expanded it, restoring its prestige as a Fourth Growth. The vineyard now covers 76 hectares adjacent to Château Lafite, on the Milon hillside that extends from the Carruades plateau.

About the estate:

Lafite Rothschild’s younger sibling receives the full attention of Éric Kohler and his team. Blessed with a beautiful gravel terroir in the heart of Pauillac, it has long suffered from the young age of its vines. As the years have passed, the estate has now come into its own. Producing serious, classic, and very dense wines that age beautifully, Duhart is a sure bet in Pauillac.

About the wine:

A juicy, flavorful red wine with aromas and flavors of blackberry, chocolate, dried meat, and earth. Medium-bodied, it offers a rich palate and a finish with notes of forest floor. Ripe tannins. A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot.
