“Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2018 is fabulous, just as it was in the barrel. Intense aromas of Cabernet burst from the glass, giving the wine an irresistible aromatic profile blending notes of graphite, dried herbs, menthol, and black fruit. One of the most classic wines from the Left Bank in 2018. Grand-Puy-Lacoste is incredibly impressive right from the start. It is a wine of great aristocratic class, yet understated in its aging. Don’t miss it.” (Vinous 2021 - Antonio Galloni) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
The vineyard boasts one of the best located and most consistent terroirs in Pauillac, with considerable potential from old Cabernet Sauvignon vines that give the wine its remarkable vinosity and very noble spicy aromas. François-Xavier Borie manages it with wisdom, skill, and an obvious loyalty to Médoc classicism. The second wine, Lacoste-Borie, has improved significantly since 2014, but will be produced in smaller volumes in the future as it will no longer include the young vines of Château Haut-Batailley.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 95/100
About wine:
TOP PAUILLAC 2018: Soft notes of black cherry, blueberry, and blackberry. A bit austere at this stage, but it unfolds with confidence, revealing hints of dark, bitter chocolate. Heavy Pauillac tannins, without a doubt—slightly more prominent than they were as a young wine. The wine has gained body with age, and I’m extending the drinking window slightly. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2044.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
This estate has had only two owners in 75 years: Raymond Dupin, from 1932 to 1978, then the Borie family, represented today by François-Xavier and his daughter Emeline. They manage this fifth growth classified as a homogenous vineyard on the gravel and clay plateau of Grand-Puy, with a good proportion of old vines. Consistency has been flawless for a good decade now, and some older vintages still surprise. "GPL," as they say in Bordeaux, produces a classic Pauillac, full-bodied and lively, with richly spiced tannins and a rather straightforward style. In great vintages, it acquires a magnificent mellowness that improves with age.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100
About wine:
It reveals itself as juicy and dense, with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and fig at its core, framed by generous hints of warm earth, charred alder, and tobacco leaves. The smoothness helps extend the finish, while the fruit and earthy notes keep the rhythm going. The wine has a slight vintage feel, so if you like more old-school Pauillacs, this is the wine for you. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2024 to 2038. - JM

About wine:
The 2018 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is fabulous, just as it was in the barrel. Intense aromas of Cabernet burst from the glass, giving the wine an irresistible aromatic profile blending notes of graphite, dried herbs, menthol, and black fruit. One of the most classic (for lack of a better word) wines from the Left Bank in 2018. Grand-Puy-Lacoste is incredibly impressive right from the start. This is a wine of great aristocratic class, yet understated in its aging. Don’t miss it. 2028–2048

About wine:
Aromas of cherries, nuts, and dried flowers. The wine is medium-bodied to full-bodied with very fine tannins, a creamy texture, and a bright, lively finish. Plenty of redcurrants and tar. It is polished and truly beautiful. Best enjoyed after 2023.

About wine:
This bouquet displays great finesse and precision, with the wine harmoniously revealing its terroir, aging, and varietal character. Inviting notes of blackcurrant and eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine has a delicious, almost velvety attack. It has body, class, and elegant tannins that lend it power and charm. A refreshing structure that supports the aromatic expression and the persistence of the finish. 2025–2043
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100
About wine:
A deep, intense, and beautiful color. The nose is highly aromatic and refined, with pure, ripe fruit. Soft on the palate at first, silky as it develops, and very fragrant, the wine glides across the palate with charm, remaining engaging and full-bodied through the finish. A long finish with no harsh tannins. It’s very good.
