"This is perhaps the most impressive Lynch-Bages we've tasted en primeur. What intensity, what brilliance! ~ La RVF "

"Its intense purple color reveals a sensational Pauillac, with a stunning (and classic Lynch-Bages) style and aromas of dark cassis, smoky tobacco, pencil and crushed stone. These notes carry through to a full-bodied, powerful and extremely concentrated 2022, with a dense, complex mid-palate, velvety tannins, perfect balance and a rare combination of power and elegance. This estate is clearly in great shape, and this magical beauty will need a decade (or more) to reach its peak. Not to be missed" (Jeb Dunnuck 2025) - Wooden case delivery available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

World-famous for its opulence and consistency, this fifth classified growth of Pauillac has belonged to the Cazes family since the 1930s, and has acquired great renown since Jean-Michel Cazes took over its management in 1973. After the successful handover from Jean-Michel to his son Jean-Charles, the cru has maintained its ardor and health in recent vintages, retaining its depth and gaining in tannic precision. The château produces an increasingly stylish dry white Bordeaux, but we're still waiting for a more precise wine for the second selection, echo. A new vat room is under construction, and it promises to be monumental, as we have to hold our own in a highly competitive world!

Decanter

Wine rated (2025 guide) 97/100

About the wine:

Ripe and generous on the palate, this wine is smooth, crisp and lively. Notes of ripe fruit - sweet, mellow blackcurrants and cherries - are fleshy and ample, as are the concentration of flavors. A delicate layering of elements structures the wine on the palate, giving it power, precision and concentration. It's still a little timid, with tension present in the diffusion of flavors and a relatively lively finish, but one that will lengthen with time. Fresh blueberry, wet stone, pencil lead and graphite add a mineral touch. No excessive heat, oak or spice, which is also excellent. A long-keeping wine, designed for aging, I think. 2030 - 2050

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

The name of this cru combines that of the Irish merchants who owned it in the 18th century and that of a hamlet on the southern outskirts of Pauillac. Since the 1930s, its success has been the result of the continuous work of three generations of Cazes: Jean-Charles, André and Jean-Michel. The latter, who has now handed over to his son Jean-Charles, plays an essential role. Its success is linked to the quality of its wines, produced from a vast 100-hectare vineyard, and also to a genuine development strategy, including a wine merchant and tourist infrastructures (hotel-restaurant, shops).

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

This is perhaps the most impressive Lynch-Bages we've tasted en primeur. What intensity, what brilliance! Enormously concentrated, it makes up for this with its balance and the vivacity of its freshness, expressed in the salinity of its finish. Its definition is unprecedented.

About the domain :

Jean-Charles Cazes is now in charge of this prestigious Pauillac cru. His father, Jean-Michel, an exceptional Medoc personality, tireless ambassador for Bordeaux wines and the architect of this fifth growth's renown, is never far away. The magnificent family estate, excellently situated on the Bages plateau, has produced an impressive series of wines without any weak points since the early 1970s, imposing its rich, seductive and immediately accessible style, while being able to age gracefully. Now boasting a spectacular, brand-new, state-of-the-art winery, the cru is more on track than ever, and its popularity with many wine lovers is only just returning the favor.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 98/100

About the wine:

A terrific Lynch from a warm vintage, with notes of blackcurrant, mint, dried lavender, graphite and thyme on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, it has fantastic tannins and a pleasant texture reminiscent of cashmere, becoming slightly mellow on the finish. Age for 4-5 years in bottle. Drink after 2028.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 96-97/100

About the wine:

The finesse and softness of the tannins are the hallmarks of this vintage, as is the palette, which is richer than usual in this primeur season. The deep purple color, followed by a nose of candied red cherry, cocoa, roasted coffee, licorice, waxed leather, blackcurrant and peppermint, continues to seduce, and the fine acidity promises long cellaring.
