"This 2020 vintage illustrates the current excellent condition of the wine, which deserves your full attention!"

"The incredible richness on the attack stands out, carried by a savory velvety texture. The subtle nose offers hints of gentian, leather, prune, and tobacco. On the palate, the integrated tannins form a harmonious whole around a rich and lively texture. A successful balance between density and elegance. Very promising. Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Philippe Castéja has worked hard to restore a superb family estate located in the Pauillac hinterland. The aging of the vines and the construction of high-performance working tools have made it possible to produce a supple, full-bodied wine that is constantly improving. Its terroir allows it to open up earlier than most wines in its appellation, which should make it more prominent on restaurant menus, offering good value for money.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Intense and concentrated, the palate is marked by numerous notes of licorice and clove, as well as ripe notes of blackcurrant and plum. I like the freshness of this wine, despite the light oak, which it carries well with plenty of minerality and soft, enveloping tannins. This wine is refined, without trying too hard. Smooth, with a touch of sweetness in the mid-palate and a long, fresh finish. Finely textured with an attractive Cabernet signature of menthol and eucalyptus. A fine effort, solid yet elegant. 2025-2039

Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Owned since the 18th century by Count Lynch, until it was divided into two, giving rise to Lynch Moussas and Lynch-Bages. Émile Castéja, who joined the family in 1919, took over the estate in 1969 and restructured the vineyards and winery. His son Philippe has been at the helm of this 35-hectare estate, close to Batailley, also owned by the Castéja family, since 2001.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About wine:

This 2020 illustrates the current excellent form of the vintage, which has gained greatly in definition and depth. It is probably the greatest wine we have tasted here. It has a lovely texture and balance, with a depth worthy of its rank.

About the estate:

Philippe Castéja has been breathing new life into this classified growth for several years now. Oenologist Denis Dubourdieu has carried out extensive work here, starting with the restoration of the vineyard. Over the last few vintages, the wines have improved and the château now benefits from technical facilities that should enable it to go even further. Lynch-Moussas produces a relatively fine wine of medium body, which can be drunk fairly quickly.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100

About wine:

Frédéric Castéja rightly points out that Lynch-Moussas is reaching the level we want it to be at. Our teams have been working on this for the past 10 years and the work is finally beginning to bear fruit. The bouquet reflects the character of Pauillac well, with notes of graphite and cedar. The palate is also worthy of the terroir, thanks to precise, fine-grained tannins. They provide a beautiful foundation and create harmony with a structuring acidity. The result is a wine that combines power and freshness and deserves our full attention! 2026-2045

Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Deep purple color with violet highlights and a black core. Noble nose with aromas reminiscent of blackberries and blueberries, complemented by notes of fresh blackcurrant. The roasting is noble with notes of mocha and cocoa in the background. The palate is full-bodied with velvety tannins, juicy fruit, and elegant spices. A Lynch-Moussas with great freshness and excellent length.
