Robert Parker

"The 2014 Pédesclaux offers a robust bouquet of redcurrant and crushed strawberry, with aromas of cedar and cigar box emerging over time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, plenty of black fruit intertwined with cedar and black pepper [...]. This is a very fine vintage from the rejuvenated estate, which is making its mark in much the same way as Pontet-Canet did in the 1990s.” (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)

Wine rated 17/20 (Top-rated wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the wine:

An excellent expression of the vintage, with full body, expressive fruit, well-integrated tannins, and a long finish—confirming its class.

About the estate:

A new, ultra-modern, luxurious, and efficient winery reflects the ambitions of the new owner, Jacky Lorenzetti. He clearly aims to produce one of the best wines in his appellation and has acquired top-quality vineyards near Mouton-Rothschild, which should help him achieve his goal. These technically brilliant wines continue to improve with each new vintage.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Françoise and Jacky Lorenzetti sold their real estate agency network (Foncia) and purchased this château in 2009 from the Jugla family. They undertook major renovations in the vineyard and cellar (construction of a new wine cellar by Jean-Michel Wilmotte) to restore the reputation of this estate founded in 1810, whose vineyard now covers approximately 50 hectares following the acquisition of new plots.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

The 2014 vintage is elegant, intense, and full-bodied on the palate, with beautiful ripe, juicy fruit

About the estate:

This is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular improvements seen in Bordeaux in recent years. Pédesclaux, acquired by Jacky Lorenzetti in 2009, has undergone a complete transformation—from the vineyards to the cellars—that is both spectacular and at the cutting edge of modernity. Under the guidance of Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen, the wines have improved steadily, vintage after vintage, with small, careful adjustments. They are now fully deserving of their classification and, above all, stand out as remarkable value for money.
