About the estate:

Françoise and Jacky Lorenzetti sold their network of real estate agencies (Foncia) and purchased this château in 2009 from the Jugla family. They undertook major renovations in the vineyard and cellar (including the construction of a new wine cellar by Jean-Michel Wilmotte) to restore the reputation of this estate, founded in 1810, whose vineyards now cover approximately 50 hectares following the acquisition of new plots.

About the wine:

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Fleur de Pedesclaux offers expressive notes of cooked plums, boysenberries, and warm red and black cherries, with hints of bouquet garni, black olives, and truffles. Medium-bodied, the palate is bursting with juicy black fruit, framed by ripe, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness. A long finish of beautiful purity.

This is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular improvements seen in Bordeaux in recent years. Pédesclaux, acquired by Jacky Lorenzetti in 2009, has undergone a complete transformation—from the vineyards to the cellars—that is both spectacular and at the cutting edge of modernity. Under the guidance of Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen, the wines have improved steadily, vintage after vintage, with subtle refinements. They are now fully deserving of their ranking and, above all, stand out as remarkable value for money.

About the wine:

Fleur de Pédesclaux 2019, aged in 30% new oak, has increased its proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon since 2009, when it was made exclusively from Merlot (and has also been in the process of converting to organic farming since 2013). Aromas of raspberry, blackberry, cedar, and light tobacco unfold in the glass. The palate is still quite full-bodied and round, with a hint of spice, retaining that touch of Chinese spices through the soft finish. A lovely second wine. 2023–2033

Ripe, sweet redcurrants and black cherries. Floral and fragrant. Medium-bodied, with firm, silky tannins and a fresh, lively finish. Pédesclaux’s second wine. 67% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Petit Verdot. Best enjoyed after 2025.

About the wine:

The nose is elegant and fruity, offering structure and refined intensity. It reveals notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and a hint of strawberry, combined with touches of morello cherry and licorice, as well as very subtle hints of Timut pepper and gravel. The palate is fruity and balanced, offering a juicy texture, minerality, and precision. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy, juicy blackberry, fleshy strawberry, and a hint of cherry, combined with a touch of blackcurrant and violet, as well as subtle hints of lychee, spices, and chocolate. The tannins are well-integrated and elegant. A very delicate hint of vanilla and an imperceptible hint of coffee linger on the finish.
