Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
Here again, we welcome the return to the rather distinctive style of the estate’s white wines, which are mellower and feature notes of floral honey in the Burgundian tradition. Immediately approachable.
About the estate:
For many years, this estate was renowned first and foremost for its white wine—one of the most well-rounded in Léognan—and later for its red, which, at its best, is one of the finest expressions of the Pessac-Léognan character. The past decade has seen the return of Fieuzal white to its former glory. The new, state-of-the-art cellars, equipped with numerous small tanks of varying capacities—made of concrete, stainless steel, or wood—now allow Stephen Carrier, the director, to craft wines of the highest caliber.

About wine:
The nose reveals notes of pineapple, mango, and rich, expressive aromas of exotic fruits. Good impact on the palate, a lovely blend of lemon and creamy pastries. Well-balanced and harmonious, without any flashiness or excessive effort, yet with such weight and dynamism on the palate, featuring crisp apples, honeyed lemon, and hints of orange. Energy and acidity. Delicious. Best enjoyed between 2024 and 2044.

About wine:
A remarkable effort with this 2019 Fieuzal Blanc. It offers inviting aromas of nectarines, candied citrus, white flowers, and subtle notes of pastry cream. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, silky and seamless, with an enveloping core of fruit, lively acidity, and a salty finish. It is a charming and beautifully balanced wine that punches well above its weight.

About the estate:
This classified growth, located in the very south of Léognan, produced some of Bordeaux’s finest white wines in the 1980s. After being sold to Banque Populaire in 1994, Fieuzal declined until 2001. That was the year Irish businessman Lochlann Quinn acquired it, then hired Stephen Carrier, originally from Champagne, as director. From then on, the estate regained its excellent standing, with a clear focus on body, structure, and tannic elegance in the reds, and freshness following the arrival of consultant Thomas Duclos. With some setbacks (2013) and major successes (2008), the whites are gradually regaining their full-bodied, intense character and aging potential.

About wine:
Tasting notes. Renowned for its white wine, this winery has produced yet another impressive vintage. It offers a fine balance between richness and a tight, mineral texture, giving it both balance and aging potential. The nutmeg notes come from oak aging. It should age well.

About wine:
A complex bouquet with notes of linden blossom and acacia, followed by hints of lemon balm and papaya. On the palate, the wine opens with a touch of minerality, yet also displays fullness and roundness. It is elegant, delicious, and already quite approachable. 2022–2030
