Wine rated (2020 guide) 93-94/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

Here again, we applaud the welcome return to the rather original style of the vintage's white wines, which are smoother and more reminiscent of Burgundy-style floral honey notes. Immediately accessible.

About the estate:

This vintage was long famous first for its white wine, one of the most complete in Léognan, and then also for its red, at its best one of the most brilliant illustrations of the character of Pessac-Léognan. The last decade has marked a return to the highest level for Fieuzal white. The new, ultra-efficient cellars, with numerous small vats of various sizes, made of concrete, stainless steel, or wood, now allow Stephen Carrier, the director, to produce haute couture wines.

About wine:

The nose reveals pineapple, mango, and rich, expressive aromas of exotic fruits. Good impact on the palate, a lovely blend of lemon and creamy pastries. Well-balanced and harmonious, no flashiness or excessive effort, but such weight and dynamism on the palate with crisp apples, honeyed lemon and hints of orange. Energy and acidity. Delicious. Best enjoyed between 2024 and 2044.

About wine:

A tremendous effort with this 2019 Fieuzal Blanc. It offers inviting aromas of nectarines, candied citrus, white flowers, and subtle notes of pastry cream. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, silky and seamless, with an enveloping core of fruit, lively acidity, and a salty finish. This is a charming and beautifully balanced wine that punches well above its weight.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

This classified growth located in the southernmost part of Léognan produced some of Bordeaux's greatest white wines in the 1980s. After being sold to Banque Populaire in 1994, Fieuzal declined until 2001. That year, Irish businessman Lochlann Quinn purchased the estate and hired Stephen Carrier from Champagne as its director. Since then, the estate has returned to excellent form, with a clear focus on body, structure and tannic elegance in the reds, and freshness with the arrival of consultant Thomas Duclos. With some failures (2013) and great successes (2008), the whites are gradually regaining their full-bodied, intense character and aging potential.

About wine:

Sample tasting. Famous for its white wine, this estate has produced another impressive vintage. It offers a great balance between richness and a tight mineral texture, giving it balance and longevity. The nutmeg flavors come from aging in wood. It should age well.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Complex bouquet with notes of lime blossom and acacia followed by hints of lemon balm and papaya. On the palate, the wine displays salinity on the attack but also fullness and roundness. It is elegant, delicious, and already very accessible. 2022-2030
