Wine rated (2017 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2019 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the wine:

Delicate on the nose, with aromas of honeysuckle, mango, reseda, fresh mint, and exotic fruits; straightforward on the palate, with good body, lingering aromas, and a lovely freshness on the finish. Clean and well-balanced.

About the estate:

Like Malartic-Lagravière, this estate has been owned by the Bonnie family since 2006, who manage it separately from the cru classé. With 22 hectares in the heart of the Léognan vineyards—19 of which are planted with red grapes—it possesses great potential that has been coming into its own over the past few vintages. The current style tends to emphasize freshness and suppleness, not without charm. It has become a must-try in the appellation.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2018 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

Established in the 17th century on a beautiful hillock of clay-gravel soil, this 20-hectare vineyard was acquired in 2006 by Alexandre Bonnie, owner of Malartic-Lagravière. It is managed by the technical teams of this classified growth, who have restructured the vineyard and equipped it with new machinery. Cultivated using methods similar to organic farming, it is surrounded by meadows, flower-filled fallow fields, woods, and hedgerows.

Rated Estate (2019 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the wine:

Classic in style, with pleasant ripe fruit and a well-balanced palate, the 2015 white is the quintessential example of a lovely Pessac-Léognan meant to be enjoyed relatively soon.

About the estate:

This Léognan estate was completely unknown until it was acquired in 2005 by the Bonnie family, who also own the classified growth Malartic-Lagravière. We owe the spectacular revival of this beautiful terroir of clay and gravel to Véronique Bonnie-Laplane, Séverine, and Jean-Jacques Bonnie. In less than ten years, the red wines have reached an excellent level of quality, with a deep, sensual, and flattering style and often opulent oak aging. In 2010, a white wine made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc was introduced, and the first vintages are quite impressive. Now more than just an underdog in Pessac-Léognan, Gazin-Rocquencourt is a mature estate with every asset needed to continue improving.
