Rated wine (2026 guide) 98–100/100 (Exceptional)
Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
As is typical, the 2025 Haut-Brion appears more reserved and austere at this stage than La Mission; it opens up in the glass to reveal notes of dark wild berries intertwined with spices, pencil shavings, and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and complex, it centers on a multidimensional fruit core framed by structuring yet well-integrated tannins, offering a remarkably controlled expression of power and ending with a long, fragrant, and subtly airy finish. Although it is still very tight at this stage, it possesses considerable depth—with TPI levels (an analytical measure of tannin concentration) exceeding 100, which is rarely seen—that is perfectly controlled and will require extended cellaring. Recent improvements made to the estate, particularly in viticulture, have resulted in fruit with better balance and greater freshness, even under the hot and dry conditions of 2025. It stands out as one of the most impressive Haut-Brion vintages of recent years.
About the estate:
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2014 guide): 3 stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the estate:
“As the only estate outside the Médoc to have been included in the 1855 classification, Château Haut-Brion has a second distinctive feature: it is completely surrounded by the town. Its terroir is undoubtedly the earliest-ripening in the appellation, and the grapes ripen perfectly here, yielding a full-bodied, rich wine that develops inimitable smoky notes as it ages. After a brief period that seemed less brilliant to us (2000–2005), the estate has just produced three outstanding vintages, including a 2009 that promises to be legendary and an even more aristocratic 2010.”

Wine rated (2026 guide) 98-100/100
About the wine:
The 2025 Haut-Brion was harvested from September 1 (slightly later than La Mission) to September 18, with a yield of 29 hl/ha. Aged 59% in new oak barrels, it offers a very pure and elegant bouquet, with exuberant aromas of wild red berries, crushed stone, potpourri, and notes of Earl Grey. A wonderfully defined wine, slightly more refined than, say, the 2020 or the 2022. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, and it offers more complexity than La Mission, along with greater depth and minerality. A fresh finish with marine notes that leaves you wanting more. This year, the Premier Cru has edged slightly ahead of La Mission. 2035–2070

About the wine:
A Merlot-dominated blend (62% Merlot, 26.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11.8% Cabernet Franc) aged 60% in new French oak barrels, the 2025 Château Haut-Brion is slightly denser and more structured than its cousin, La Mission. Magnificent aromas of black cherries, graphite, burnt earth, and smoke define the bouquet, while on the palate it reveals itself to be remarkably pure, with polished, serious tannins and incredible length. Its purity, concentration, and overall elegance are captivating.

About the wine:
While intensity is certainly an important criterion, Haut-Brion doesn’t really focus on it. It is the details, the nuances, and the clarity that shape its character and its ambitions. Spicy nuances accompany aromas of peonies, licorice, lemongrass, and malt, while notes of blackcurrant and raspberry round out the exceptional complexity! Smooth on the palate, the wine reveals itself with elegance and subtlety. It possesses a refined, precise power, enhanced by well-defined tannins that pair with incisive acidity. The latter provides a lively, sharp, energizing touch. A majestic and serene wine that ranks among the appellation’s most brilliant successes, without making a fuss, with fascinating harmony. 2030–2070
