"The Bonnie family has done a wonderful job, producing one of the best wines in the appellation today!"
“Very complex aromas of black berries, mushrooms, earth, flowers, and incense. But also notes of crushed stone. Full-bodied, with very fine, refined tannins that are caressing and magnificent. The finish is very, very long and lingering, with subtle and complex flavors. It will be truly beautiful with age. ” (James Suckling 2021) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Rated estate (2019 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
As perfectionist owners, the Bonnies have masterfully renovated the estate’s technical facilities, restored and expanded the vineyard, and, above all, transformed the wines. These Belgian wine enthusiasts purchased the estate from Laurent-Perrier in 1990 and have brought it to its highest level. Their son Jean-Jacques has taken over, with the same dedication and commitment to excellence. The vineyard spans 53 hectares, including 7 hectares of white grape varieties, certified under sustainable agriculture practices. The second wine, formerly known as Sillage-de-Malartic, became La Réserve-de-Malartic in 2006. The reds, rigorously selected, possess astonishing strength and structural integrity, which in no way detract from their innate finesse. The recent whites are also remarkable: they have gained in body and richness, and are racy, lively, and balanced. La Réserve de Malartic, in both white and red, proves to be the true younger sibling of the grand vin.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
A perfect illustration of the appellation’s revival, Malartic-Lagravière has made spectacular progress since its acquisition in 1998 by Belgian entrepreneur Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie. With his son Jean-Jacques, his daughter Véronique, and his daughter-in-law Séverine, the estate has, in just a few years, made up for the ground it had lost during its time under the umbrella of the Champagne-based Laurent-Perrier group. The vineyard, superbly situated on a gravelly hillock behind the château, is impeccably maintained, and modern technical facilities have allowed the reds to gain in fullness and depth of body, particularly thanks to a vineyard that is maturing and becoming more deeply rooted. The reds have never been better and rank among the most interesting in the appellation. The whites also exhibit a very refined, polished, and generous style. Close observation of the aging process led the estate to invest in 350- and 500-liter wooden barrels for vinification and aging.

About the wine:
The Bonnie family has done a marvelous job with this estate, producing one of the appellation’s finest wines today. This latest release, equally rich in tannins and fruit, is dense, powerful, yet elegant. It will age well and should be ready to drink starting in 2027.

About the wine:
Château Malartic-Lagravière 2019 has distinguished itself brilliantly, with an elegant, pure, and perfectly balanced style. With notes of ripe black cherry, blackcurrant, tobacco leaf, spicy oak, and the burnt earth typical of Graves, it makes a strong impression on the palate with medium-bodied to full-bodied richness, a beautifully layered and harmonious mouthfeel, superb tannins, and a damn good finish. It’s not a blockbuster, but it excels in elegance, balance, and complexity. Readers will love having it in their cellar, and it will age for over 20 years. 2022–2044

About the wine:
A clean, elegant nose of blueberries and vanilla-scented flowers. Incredibly refined on the palate, with intensely fruity and pleasantly tart flavors. A beautiful, silky texture that gives way to a salty finish.

About the wine:
Deeply colored, this wine makes a striking impression on the nose with aromas of smoked plum, chocolate, black cherry, espresso, flowers, and crushed stone. The palate is flamboyant and full-bodied, filled with layers of velvety blackberries, black cherries, coffee beans, mocha, and licorice. The wine is elegant, luxurious, and refined, with silky tannins that lend it length and purity. While you can enjoy it now, its best days are yet to come. Drink between 2027 and 2055.
Tastingbook - Markus Del Monego
Wine rated (2020 guide) 96/100
About the wine:
Deep purple-red with violet highlights and a black core. An expressive nose with pronounced spicy notes, licorice, and gingerbread, underpinned by juicy fruit reminiscent of blackberry and blackcurrant, with hints of graphite and cold smoke in the background. The palate is complex and rich with intense fruit, notes of graphite and sweet spices, ripe tannins and fine acidity, multi-layered fruit on the finish, excellent length, and body.
