Rated estate (2019 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

Its name alone is enough to describe the status this estate has enjoyed for thirty years. Everything here borders on perfection: the whites and reds are elegant and sophisticated.

Rated estate (2019 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

Bernard Magrez, who also owns the La Tour Carnet (Haut-Médoc) and Fombrauge (Saint-Émilion) châteaux, has made this property his flagship. Nothing is left to chance in the quest to produce the finest wine possible. The search for optimal ripeness, hand-picking, luxurious aging... This is the archetype of the great modern luxury Bordeaux, which seduces immediately and evolves with great charm. On the flip side, some vintages have sometimes been excessive. Time then puts things back in place and calms the wine's ardor, as the terroir eventually takes over. However, since the 2012 vintage, there has been a noticeable change in style, moving towards wines that are less marked by the sometimes excessive pursuit of maturity and towards less assertive aging, which is clearly evident in our latest tastings, particularly with the 2015 vintage. The estate produces a small quantity of a delicately musky white wine (partly aged in ovoid concrete vats), whose elegance places it at the top of the Sauvignon-dominated Graves wines.

About wine:

Light yellow with subtle golden highlights. A bouquet of good intensity with citrus and nutty notes. A delicious, fruity attack. A balanced, fresh wine to be enjoyed in its youth. A fruity, persistent finish. Now – 2023

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Wine rated (2019 guide) 89/100

About wine:

Pale color. Medium intensity nose, marked by Sauvignon. Smooth, flavorful, and very fragrant on the palate, with a subtle hint of orange. Good length with a taste of ripe fruit and energy.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2019 guide) 92/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is fresh and offers a delicate concentration, richness, and a little power. There are notes of fresh lemon, crisp vine peach, and a hint of fresh apple, combined with subtle hints of white flowers and a discreet touch of vanilla blossom. The palate is fruity, balanced and offers good definition, a delicate juicy/tangy texture, tension, a slight crunch, lovely freshness, lovely roundness, richness, lovely smoothness, good finesse, elegance and fleshy, juicy fruit. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy vine peach, fleshy/juicy apple and, more subtly, pear, combined with hints of ripe lemon and subtle hints of ripe mandarin. The finish is very finely tight.
