“A model of success!”

“A deep, intense, beautiful purple color. A superb, highly aromatic, and intense nose, with pure, ripe, and subtle fruit. Complex nuances that are both fresh and warm. Full-bodied from the first sip, then very smooth on the palate, the wine develops a powerful yet airy character , particularly rich in aroma. The texture caresses the palate. Delicious, meticulous, and very elegant, it finishes complex, very fruity, deep, beautiful, and grand, with plenty of flavor! Bravo.” (Jean-Marc Quarin 2019) - Delivered in a wooden case for any order of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Pickup Point delivery method)

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2020 guide) 2 stars (Outstanding wine)

About the wine:

Made from a blend of Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (36%), complemented by Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, this 2016 vintage offers a diverse bouquet: ripe red fruits and strawberry jam, with a well-balanced touch of oak (vanilla). After a supple attack, the palate reveals a full-bodied, deep, and powerful structure supported by a solid tannic presence, promising a bright future.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 96/100 (Extraordinary wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Pape Clément 2016 boasts a deep garnet-purple color and a rather serious, earthy nose of truffle, plowed earth, undergrowth, and smoked meat, with a core of blackcurrant, cooked plums, and redcurrants, as well as a hint of lavender. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, firm and grainy, the palate is built like a brick house, supporting muscular notes of black fruit and earth, and ending with a very long, mineral finish.

Rated estate (2019 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Bernard Magrez, who also owns Château La Tour Carnet (Haut-Médoc) and Château Fombrauge (Saint-Émilion), has made this estate his flagship. Nothing is left to chance in the quest to produce the finest wine possible. The pursuit of optimal ripeness, hand-destemming, luxurious aging… This is the archetype of the modern, luxurious Bordeaux, one that captivates immediately and evolves with great charm. On the flip side, some vintages have occasionally veered into excess. Time then sets things right and calms the wine’s fiery spirit, as the terroir eventually reasserts itself. However, since the 2012 vintage, a shift in style has been noticeable, moving toward wines less marked by the sometimes excessive pursuit of ripeness, and toward less aggressive aging, which was clearly evident in our recent tastings, particularly with the 2015 vintage. The estate produces a small quantity of a white wine (aged partly in ovoid concrete tanks) that is delicately musky and possesses an elegance that places it at the forefront of Sauvignon-dominated Graves wines.

James Suckling

Wine rated (2019 guide) 98/100

About the wine:

A superb concentration of perfectly ripe blackcurrants, with a delicate hint of vanilla-scented oak and extremely fine tannins that are almost perfectly integrated into a seductive and delicate palate, leading to a finish that is literally breathtaking—super long and very polished. Try it starting in 2022.

Le Figaro Wines

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2018 guide) 97/100

About the wine:

A dense garnet red with purple highlights. Fruit and spice dominate the nose of the 2016 Pape Clément, displaying great finesse and complexity. Pleasant notes of licorice and black fruit. On the palate, the wine is compact, full-bodied, and endowed with imposing, fine-grained tannins. Like many great wines, Pape Clément masterfully combines fullness and finesse. The finish is fruity, spicy, refreshing, and lingering. A wine that will be hard to resist, yet it deserves a bit of aging to reveal its full potential! 2024–2041
