"Expect an aristocratic Saint-Émilion with crystal-clear purity and a texture reminiscent of Chanel cashmere!"
Located on exceptional terroir on the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion, Château Canon has continued to captivate us for several vintages—leaving us wondering where this rise will end. The nose displays an inimitable character, with depth, verticality, and aromatic purity. The texture is perfectly ripe but airy in structure. The concentration is perfect, elegant and sappy, propelled by a minerality with dazzling persistence. This is a moving and vibrant 2019, like a cello chord, nestled on the Olympus of great terroir wines. (Terre de Vins 2020) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Eye
Brilliant
Nose
Ripe and expressive, bursting with life, the wine plunges into the glass where vibrant notes of red fruits, strawberries, and luscious raspberries swirl. A few more swirls and the fruit intensifies further, releasing aromas of morello cherry, and still that sapid, smooth, and flavorful sensation.
Mouth
Intense and sappy, it retains its juicy character throughout the tasting, which is characteristic of this vintage. It brings a rolling sensation to the palate and enlivens its texture. A generous but balanced Canon, combining consistency with fluidity.

About wine:
After bottling, it is time to discover the magnificent score of this 2019 Canon, with its ultra-fine creamy attack that gives the flesh a unique refinement, perfectly stretched by a multidimensional limestone structure. The excellent impressions from our initial tastings are perfectly confirmed here. But be careful, don't touch it now, because that would be a crime! In 10 years' time, we will be very happy to have such a Canon in our cellar.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
A grand cru founded in 1760 by frigate captain and privateer Jacques Kanon, who developed monoculture vineyards there, elevated to the rank of 1er grand cru classé B in 1954. The Fournier family, who settled here in 1919, sold the estate to the Chanel group in 1996. Nestled against the medieval town, the vineyard is ideally located to the south of the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. Its subsoil conceals immense cellars dug over centuries to build Libourne and Bordeaux. Nicolas Audebert (who also runs Rauzan-Ségla in Margaux, owned by the same owners) manages the vineyard: 34 hectares, including 12 from the Grand Cru Classé Matras, acquired in 2011, which now supplies the second wine, Croix Canon.

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
250 years ago, a privateer with a passion for the land had Château Canon built. Twenty-five years ago, two brothers with an eye for beauty bought the property. The Wertheimers (Chanel), after acquiring Rauzan-Ségla in Margaux, turned their attention to the right bank two years later, taking over Canon in 1996, then its neighbor, Château Berliquet, in 2017. Through restructuring, and under the direction of Nicolas Audebert, Cabernet Franc became more prominent, eventually making up 30% of the vineyard and the blend. The perfect homogeneity of the vineyard on the asteriated limestone of the plateau offers refined consistency in the labyrinth of quarries that run underground along the vineyards. Regardless of the vintage, Canon breaks the mold: hot years do not tarnish its superb quality, as the limestone acts as a water reserve. The wine's slender, highly distinctive character has built its reputation.

About wine:
Canon 2019 is creamy and complex. A wine of immense charm and sensuality, it is already seductive today, yet has obvious aging potential. The 2019 is not as exuberant as most recent vintages, but its balance is simply magnificent. Expect an aristocratic Saint-Émilion that retains a beautiful reserve. Patience is required. Tasted 3 times. 2031-2059

About wine:
The nobility of its little sister Berliquet transforms into majesty at Canon, in this elegant nose of pure, purple-red, perfectly ripe fruit. The nose transports you to the clouds. On the palate, a wave of ink-like black fruits, yet with the depth of ripe fruits touched by grace, which wash up on a saline minerality and a melting sweetness. The cashmere texture—signature Chanel—lingers on a long, fresh finish. Dangerously addictive! 2031-2051

Yves Beck
Wine rated (2021 guide) 100/100
About wine:
Purplish violet. Canon's bouquet quickly sets the tone! It's all about subtlety and intensity, with a keen sense of detail and complexity. The notion of detail and subtlety is perfectly reflected on the palate. What freshness and pedigree, displayed with elegance, finesse, and precision. A wine that moves forward with great class and presents itself as a conqueror on the lookout for enthusiasts eager for relevant and subtle details. Fruity, intense, and persistent finish. It is not customary to award the maximum score to a wine en primeur, but to be honest, I couldn't find a single point to deduct. If necessary, I would rate it 101/100 on delivery, as it may be even better than it is now! What wonderful prospects. 2025-2049
Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing
Wine rated (2020 guide) 99-100/100
About wine:
A delicate and subtly fresh nose. Blackcurrant, blueberry, flowers, mineral, a hint of graphite, a hint of licorice, and violet too. Everything here is refined and elegant. A delicate, chiseled attack with silky tannins and a crystalline texture perfectly supported by a very chalky and emotional acidity. Crystalline purity and such precision. One of the finest and most distinctive wines of the vintage with an aging potential of nearly 50 years or more. Very close to its terroir in an exceptional vintage. Above the magnificent 2018. 100% great wine.
Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Wine rated (2022 guide) 100/100
About wine:
Château Canon has enjoyed remarkable growth in recent years, and you will understand why. There is so much complexity, depth, power, and interest in this wine. It buzzes with life, rising above the palate, full of gun smoke, truffle, raspberry, and blueberry—so delicious. It will need time, but it already shows that it is worth the wait. 45hl/h, 3.5ph, harvested from September 11 to October 4, 50% new oak. Thomas Duclos is a consultant.
