"The pride and joy of the Todeschini brothers, talented organic winemakers!"

“Mangot 2020 proved to be magnificent, bursting with aromas of cherry, wild berries, rose petals, blood orange, and bay leaf. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, supple and well-integrated, it is pure and vibrant, with a layered core of fruit, velvety tannins, and a long, chalky finish that makes your mouth water. It is a brilliant wine that sells for a song and outshines many of its better-known neighbors. " (Wine Advocate 2022) - A phenomenon of the Right Bank!

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Yann and Karl Todeschini have come to appreciate this family-owned estate in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse: it comprises 34 hectares of contiguous vineyards across four distinct terroirs, dominated by clay-limestone soils. The wines are dense, powerful, and full-bodied; they absolutely must be aged or decanted two hours before serving.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

A brilliant plum color, full-bodied and bursting with fruit. Powerful on the palate, with poise and concentration, it is enlivened by notes of blueberry and a salty minerality. A fine wine, pleasant and remarkably balanced, with a toasty finish and hints of smoky rosemary. 20% new oak, 30% amphora. The Todeschini brothers are the owners of this estate. 2025–2040

Wine noted (guide 2024) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

With 20% of the wine aged in amphorae and the rest in barrels and tanks, this estate is fully embracing modern winemaking techniques. Intense aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry mingle on the nose and carry through to a powerful, full-bodied, and deep palate, supported by sculptural tannins. Best cellared until 2027–2035.

About the estate:

The vineyards, founded in 1951 by Jean Petit, comprise 37 hectares of contiguous Saint-Émilion Grand Cru vineyards on a terroir rich in asterias limestone (Mangot, an ancient cru first mentioned in 1510), and 16 hectares in Castillon (La Brande), meticulously managed since 1989 by Jean-Guy and Anne-Marie Todeschini, joined in 2008 by their sons Karl and Yann. The vineyard has been fully certified organic since 2020 and is in the process of converting to biodynamics.

About the estate:

First mentioned in 1546, Château Mangot has stood the test of time and is now a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru located in the commune of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, in the eastern part of the appellation. In 1952, Simone and Jean Petit purchased Mangot with the goal of restoring it to its former glory. Over 30 years, they expanded the vineyard from 5 to 37 hectares. In 1989, their daughter and her husband, Anne-Marie and Jean-Guy Todeschini, took over, restructuring the vineyard and modernizing the facilities. In 2008, Karl and Yann, after completing their studies and internships in France and abroad, joined their parents to bring enthusiasm, precision, and a modern approach. What do these three generations have in common? A philosophy: to act in the simplest and most natural way possible, guided by sound, down-to-earth judgment. Integrated pest management was chosen to preserve the natural balance. In the winery, work is done on a plot-by-plot basis to fully express each of the estate’s 22 plots. The family also owns 25 hectares in Castillon, including Château le Brande.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

The challenge of 2020—achieving freshness in the wine—was successfully met at Mangot. This is the result of Karl and Yann Todeschini’s careful attention to the terroir. Chalky nuances highlight the freshness, complemented by fruity and spicy notes. The wine is full-bodied, lively, juicy, and harmonious. A superb balance between the sharpness of the acidity and the wine’s fullness. A lively, captivating, and persistent wine. 2025–2045

This 2020 Mangot looks very promising! It has a lovely balance, beautifully refined tannins, a palate centered on dark fruits, and a more tart finish reminiscent of red berries.
