Château La Gaffelière
Owned by the Malet-Roquefort family, Château La Gaffelière is a family-run estate that embodies a quintessentially French winemaking style, blending tradition with modernity. This respect for the terroir is rooted in the Malet-Roquefort family’s heritage, which Count Alexandre de Malet-Roquefort carefully carries forward at Château La Gaffelière. In this 38-hectare vineyard, uniquely situated on the southern slope of Saint-Emilion, the combination of wines from the hillside and the foothills produces a nectar that is at once powerful, refined, and silky. This harmony is found in every vintage of Château La Gaffelière.

The estate now covers 38 hectares, 22 of which are classified as Premier Grand Cru. Our vineyards are located in three areas:
-The aster-bearing limestone plateau: layers of green clay and marl, 3 to 5 meters thick, sandwiched between two layers of limestone.
-The south to southwest-facing slope: This is an ideal location for growing grapes, as it combines an exposure and a slope that are conducive to ripening and natural drainage;
-The foothills: composed of deep sands that have been carbonated through colluvial processes. These fragile yet healthy soils require special care; through meticulous cultivation, they reveal their finesse and fruitiness.

Château La Gaffelière is planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, and the vineyard practices leaf removal and hand-harvesting.
