Château La Gaffelière

Owned by the Malet-Roquefort family, Château La Gaffelière is a family-run estate that embodies a distinctly French winemaking style, blending tradition and modernity. This respect for the terroir is rooted in the origins of the Malet-Roquefort family, which Count Alexandre de Malet-Roquefort carefully carries forward at Château La Gaffelière. In this 38-hectare vineyard, uniquely situated on the southern slope of Saint-Émilion, the combination of wines from the hillside and the foothills produces a wine that is at once powerful, refined, and silky. This harmony is evident in every vintage of Château La Gaffelière.

The estate currently covers 38 hectares, 22 of which are classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé. Our plots are located in three areas: 

-The Asterias limestone plateau: layers of green clay and marl, 3 to 5 m thick, sandwiched between two layers of limestone. 

-The south-to-southwest-facing slope: This is an ideal location for growing grapes because it combines an exposure and a slope that are conducive to ripening and natural drainage;
