Château La Gaffelière
Owned by the Malet-Roquefort family, Château La Gaffelière is a family estate with a typically French winemaker's signature, a blend of tradition and modernity. This respect for the terroir is linked to the origins of the Malet-Roquefort family, which the Comte & Alexandre de Malet-Roquefort carefully transcribe to Château La Gaffelière. In this uniquely situated 38-hectare vineyard on the southern slopes of Saint-Emilion, the combination of hillside and pied de côte wines produces a nectar that is powerful, racy and silky. This harmony can be found in every vintage of Château La Gaffelière.

The estate now covers 38 hectares, 22 of which are 1er Grand Crus Classé. Our parcels are located in three zones:
-The asteriated limestone plateau: 3 to 5 m layers of clay and green marl wedged between two layers of limestone.
South to south-west facing slopes: This is an ideal location for vine-growing, as it combines favorable exposure and slope for ripening and natural water drainage;
-The foot of the slope: made up of deep sands carbonated by colluvium. These fragile but healthy soils require special attention to bring out their finesse and fruitiness.

Château La Gaffelière is planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, and practices leaf thinning and manual harvesting.
