"The first vintage produced in the new underground cellar, this wine is simply delicious, stylish and has immense potential! ~ Guide Hachette"

"This 2022 vintage once again demonstrates the full potential of this elite wine grown on limestone plateau, which has now produced a third Favorite four editions after the 2020 and 2019 vintages. Crafted with finesse, it displays all the attributes of a very great Saint-Émilion, with intense aromas of black fruits nuanced with delicate floral notes and a pure, full-bodied palate with discreet oak, underscored by beautiful freshness and perfectly refined tannins. Very long, dynamic, and exceptionally elegant, it is simply delicious, stylish, and has immense potential. Irresistible." (Guide Hachette 2026) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Rated estate (2018 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

Pavie-Macquin, located right next to Troplong-Mondot, has just been awarded Premier Grand Cru Classé status. Stéphane Derenoncourt and Nicolas Thienpont know how to bring out the best in the terroir while giving it a modern twist, adapted to the tastes of today's consumers. Very full-bodied and fleshy, Pavie-Macquin wine gains in finesse and harmony with each new vintage, with the inimitable truffle flavor and mineral tension characteristic of the Pavie hillside.

Rated estate (2018 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

A new, understated reception room, made entirely of glass, allows visitors to enjoy a tasting with a breathtaking view of the village of Saint-Emilion. Pavie-Macquin retained its status as a premier grand cru classé in the latest Saint-Emilion classification in 2012. This is a fitting reward for the remarkable work carried out at the château by its manager, Nicolas Thienpont, and his advisor Stéphane Derenoncourt. Since the late 1990s, this duo has transformed the estate, drawing heavily on biodynamic principles (though not certified). Their hard work has been rewarded with a series of fantastic wines, combining magnificent fruit intensity with great depth on the palate. These wines stand out from their neighbors Pavie and Pavie Decesse with a style that is both more restrained and more supple, with deep but always very lively fruit. A sure bet well known to enthusiasts, Pavie-Macquin has not put a foot wrong in recent years.

About wine:

Blackcurrant, blue fruits, crushed stone, chocolate, and intense minerality emerge from Château Pavie Macquin 2022. More robust and incredibly concentrated, it offers a lively and vibrant palate, ripe, structured, and present tannins, and a sumptuous finish. Made from the usual blend of 80% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, this captivating and powerful 2022 vintage is a wine for aging par excellence. Store it carefully for a good ten years if possible, and it will age for 40 years. 2035–2075

About wine:

The bouquet of Pavie Macquin immediately reveals its ambitions for subtlety, freshness, and precision. Add to that complexity, as the aroma alternates between maturity, freshness, depth, and sweet spices, with notes of mint, raspberries, blackberries, and cocoa beans. On the palate, the wine does not necessarily focus on density, preferring instead to highlight its subtlety, precision, and freshness. Supported by powerful tannins, the wine boasts serene vigor and brilliance. A deep, sapid, and persistent Pavie Macquin. 2028-2052
