Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2017 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
The 32 hectares of Château Le Crock are located between Cos d’Estournel and Montrose, and also border Marbuzet and Haut-Marbuzet. Acquired in 1903 by the Cuvelier family, prior to Léoville-Poyferré, this superb château, whose vineyard is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, is advised by Michel Rolland.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
5-Star Rated Estate (Outstanding Production)
About the estate:
“ The Cuvelier family, who later acquired Château Léoville-Poyferré in Saint-Julien, purchased Le Crock in 1904. The vineyard consists of three sections, the main one located on the Mabuzet hill and another near Les Deux Cos. The wines continue to improve steadily thanks to the construction of a new fermentation vat, a new barrel cellar, and particularly meticulous harvesting. Of very high quality, even in the 2004 vintage, this is a beautiful Saint-Estèphe with tannins that are present and pronounced on the finish but rich and full-bodied, with a lovely, rich, and spicy texture.”

Rated estate (2017 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
This estate, owned by the Cuvelier family (Château Léoville-Poyferré), is situated on a beautiful terroir, neighboring Cos d'Estournel and Haut-Marbuzet. The château consistently produces a deep, smooth Saint-Estèphe that is enjoyable even in its youth. Recent vintages demonstrate excellent consistency.
