“What a nose for a second wine! Lovely blackcurrant notes and delicate vegetal and earthy aromas. This is a rare gem: a truly mineral red Bordeaux. An excellent balance between ripe tannins and the freshness provided by its superb acidity. A long, clean finish.” (James Suckling - Robert Parker) Delivered in a wooden case for all orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Pickup Point delivery method)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated (2021 Guide) 5* Stars (Exceptional producers who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

The estate belonged to the Charmolüe family for over a century (the family now resides in Provence, at Château Romanin). Purchased in 2005 by Martin and Olivier Bouygues, the estate has continued on its path to excellence. The new owners and their teams have taken care not to alter the style, but to refine viticulture and winemaking to adapt them to the ecological and cultural demands of our time. The second wine, Dame-de-Montrose, produced in significant quantities, has improved in consistency and expression of the terroir. The latest vintages, among the finest in the Médoc, are more than a match for the First Growths.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2018) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About the wine:

Montrose's second wine contains a higher proportion of Merlot (50%) than its elder. It captivates with its elegant bouquet (black fruits, vanilla, chocolate, toasted bread) and its pleasant, well-balanced, fresh, and lingering palate, with well-integrated oak.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 89/100 (Very good wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The 2014 La Dame de Montrose offers a well-balanced bouquet of red cherry, blueberry, and crushed violet. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a tight, linear structure—a traditional La Dame de Montrose that should age better than expected.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

The 2014 La Dame de Montrose is full of charm and roundness. It is a refined, well-integrated wine that is, above all, refreshing.

About the estate:

Entrepreneurs Martin and Olivier Bouygues have owned this renowned classified growth since 2006. They have masterfully cultivated one of the Médoc’s finest terroirs, which has repeatedly distinguished itself in the past by producing wines that can match—or even surpass—the quality of the first growths. In hot, dry years, such as 2003, 2009, 2010, or even 2011, Montrose offers exceptional distinction. Hervé Berland, who now manages the estate, is taking it to a level of definition and precision never before seen here. It is approaching a third star.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

This wine is powerful, with refined tannins and concentrated black fruit. Its dense texture is enhanced by the acidity and the vintage’s lovely fruit. The tannins are dusty and tight, framed by lovely fruit and acidity. This Montrose second wine will undoubtedly continue to develop over the next few years. Best enjoyed in 2024.
