The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
“A generous nose marked by blackcurrant. This is a dense, powerful, chewy wine with fine yet firm tannins that make their presence felt right away. I love the texture; it envelops the palate in the best possible way—refined, with vibrant red fruit and hints of licorice, particularly on the finish. Everything is balanced, with plenty to enjoy. Best enjoyed between 2023 and 2030.” (Decanter 2022) - Delivered in a wooden case for any order of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Pickup Point delivery method)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide): 5 stars (Exceptional producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)
About the estate:
The estate belonged to the Charmolüe family for over a century (the family now resides in Provence, at Château Romanin). Purchased in 2005 by Martin and Olivier Bouygues, the estate has continued on its path to excellence. The new owners and their teams have taken care not to alter the style, but to refine viticulture and winemaking to adapt them to the ecological and cultural demands of our time. The second wine, Dame-de-Montrose, produced in significant quantities, has improved in consistency and expression of the terroir. The latest vintages, among the finest in the Médoc, are more than a match for the First Growths.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
Entrepreneurs Martin and Olivier Bouygues have owned this renowned classified growth since 2006. They have masterfully cultivated one of the Médoc’s finest terroirs, which has repeatedly distinguished itself in the past by producing wines that can match—or even surpass—the quality of the first growths. In hot, dry years, such as 2003, 2009, 2010, or even 2011, Montrose offers exceptional distinction. Hervé Berland, who now manages the estate, is elevating it to a level of definition and precision never before seen here. It is approaching a third star.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
Juicy and pleasantly chewy, with notes of milk chocolate, nuts, and blackcurrant. Medium-bodied, creamy, and flavorful. Montrose's second wine. Best enjoyed after 2024.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
A complex bouquet with good intensity, revealing fruity and floral notes through aromas of violets, blackberries, and black pepper. A hint of malt. Beautiful density on the palate, with an excellent balance between the liveliness of the acidity and the finesse of the tannins. An impressive Montrose! 2024–2044
The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
On the nose, there are dark red berries—ripe and sweet—surrounded by cedar, tobacco, spices, and the scents of a damp forest. There is more than enough ripe, soft, sweet, crisp, elegant, and earthy red fruit, with a spicy touch on the finish, to offer great enjoyment after just a year or two of aging. This is an excellent vintage for La Dame de Montrose to enjoy until the Grand Vin has a chance to develop and mature. Drink from 2024 to 2040.
