“A standout of the vintage!”
“ ’s 2016 Gloria is one of the undisputed stars of this vintage. Rich, deep, and explosive, this 2016 possesses tremendous intensity in every aspect. Red cherry, tobacco, menthol, licorice, and dried rose petals add complexity. In 2016, Gloria is a true standout. It should also offer fabulous value. Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 16.5/20 (Benchmark wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
Particularly elegant. A full-bodied, powerful nose with notes of incense, pencil shavings, smoke, and black fruit; a beautifully structured palate that is dense, vigorous, and lively. Both refined and built to age. Best enjoyed between 2021 and 2032.
About the estate:
Superbly situated in the commune of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle and surrounded by noble peers, Château Gloria is now owned by Jean-Louis Triaud and his wife, the daughter of Henri Martin, its “founder” (just like Château Saint-Pierre). This estate has now fully regained its former glory. Gloria’s wines feature pure fruit and a supple structure, with exceptionally refined tannins. They are true classics of the appellation.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2020 guide) 2** stars (Outstanding wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the wine:
With its dazzling ruby color, this wine is exceptionally elegant, charming the senses with its fresh aromas of ripe red fruit and vanilla. Its charm continues on the palate, thanks to the rich, full-bodied texture typical of Saint-Julien wines: a harmonious blend of tannins and the flavors of ripe fruit. A truly classy bottle that still needs time to mellow.
About the estate:
This estate, which today spans 50 hectares, was built from the ground up starting in 1942 by one of the region’s leading figures, Henri Martin, who for years acquired plots from Grand Cru Classé vineyards in the heart of Beychevelle, as well as to the west and north of the appellation. His daughter Françoise and her husband Jean-Louis Triaud, who managed Gloria and the entire Domaines Martin estate, handed over control of their properties to their son Jean in 2016.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
As we suspected, the 2016 vintage is a major success for the estate; it adds an extra layer of depth and definition. Superb.
About the estate:
Patiently assembled, plot by plot, in the second half of the 20th century by Henri Martin, Gloria is one of the leading unclassified wines of the Médoc. This reputation is well-deserved, as evidenced by the latest vintages. Always full-bodied, colorful, and concentrated, the wine has rarely disappointed over the past decade. It ages harmoniously, but those in a hurry can enjoy it as early as five years after bottling.
